There's Kerbals on the starboard bow, Jim!

Obligatory Star Trek reference aside, hello all. Introductory thread, and stuff. Hi.

So, I'm Ashflare, because I was not very imaginative 9 years ago when I chose my screen name, and, alas, it kinda stuck. Professional slacker, nerd by nature, and excessive gamer. Which, all in all, makes this my perfect game.

I'm still something of a noob in this; I've managed to land on the Mun a couple times, with only the occasional fiery explosion. I once managed an orbital rendezvous, but never managed to replicate it again. I've also managed to, on one occasion, miss the Mun entirely and end up in a solar orbit. Happy days.

More to the point, I've been tentatively wading into the dark murky world of rovers today. My first tiny, unmanned testing probe worked fairly well, I explored the Mun's surface a little, and by happy chance, found the Neil Armstrong memorial, which increased my love for the game tenfold. Seriously, I had no idea there was anything actually on the Mun, I was just driving around for the sake of it, spotted something in the distance, and broke out into cries of childish glee when I got close enough to see what it was. :D

Having some minor trouble designing a larger, manned rover, due to reasons, but I'm sure I'll get that figured out. Oh, yeah, and I play purely vanilla, I refuse to use any mods except Subassembly Loader, which doesn't really do anything except save time while building.

So, that's me, and stuff. Keep flying, Kerbalnauts!

You found the Armstrong memorial by chance? Now that is some good luck, i've yet to see it myself at least ingame, but i hope to do so sooner rather than later, welcome to the forum. :)

It's definitely worth seeking out :D

I found it by chance too! It was much bigger than expected.

Yeah, you don't really get a true sense of scale until you jetpack Jeb up to the top of it. When I first saw it, I'd just crested a ridge with my rover and saw the little black speck in the distance, I thought it was something small, like a rock or something, and then when I got close and saw what it was...

I love this game :D

Welcome to the forums! :)

You sound like you're a lot like me, except I have a day job, so now I only have time for some freelance slacking on the weekends :P

There's plenty of other "Easter eggs" scattered all over the Kerbol system, so keep your eyes peeled!

If you have any questions or want to learn some new tricks for the game, be sure to check out the "How To" section. I've been maintaining a small link library for useful information there called the Drawing Board (link in my sig), and the people who hang out there are knowledgeable enough to be able to answer almost any question you may have. Feel free to check out the rest of the forums and jump into any conversation that catches your eye, too.

Happy landings!

Well, you know what they (don't) say.

Stuff is huge without an atmosphere.
