capi3101
Built another cargo spaceplane (the Auk VIII, naturally). Encountered a new problem - when I go to pitch up (sometimes I don't have to pitch up), it suddenly yaws and then lithobrakes. I suspect too much weight on the back landing gear; what blows is that I have six of the damn things back there. I should take some screenies and ask for help. Commissar
9000 m/s isn't that much. A simple Mun landing already requires 7500 m/s, and a mission to Duna takes 8000 m/s, but only if you know what you are doing. From a career mode perspective, the biggest issue is not the delta-v requirement, but that you need solar panels to keep SAS operating and RCS for orbit adjustments, so you can't really do the mission with just 45-point technology.are you using one of the realistic solar system mods or something? getting to duna only takes like 2500m/s, in the stock game. Jouni
are you using one of the realistic solar system mods or something? getting to duna only takes like 2500m/s, in the stock game.A bit over 4500 m/s to reach orbit, a bit over 1000 m/s to reach Duna, and almost 2000 m/s to get back. Add some margin of error, and you are at 8000 m/s.
ANWRocketMan
Today I launched LunaSat 01 and LunaSat 02. LunaSat 03 is scheduled to be launched in 3 months due to budget constraints. This using Real Solar System and various mods.LunaSat 01 before CCM 03 as it approaches the Moon.LunaSat 02 experienced a severe launch anomaly and was put into an orbit that had an Ascending node angle of 3 degrees. It was deorbited soon after being re-used for science experimentation of the Van Allen Belts.
Doctor Axel
Made my first tilt-rotor VTOL. Even without the SAS turned on it's quite flyable with a joystick. It's in career mode so I haven't unlocked everything I want to do with it yet. It can't quite generate enough lift with the wings to tilt the rotors all the way forward and maintain altitude - my next upgrade will try to address that.Firespitter and Infernal Robotics both required obviously. There a lot of stuff from a lot of other mods stuck on there too but those are the two that get it to work. I preferred props to jets because they're more easily fine-tuned for hovering. Treveli
I started a new career (after one too many failures I get frustrated and restart to forget about them) and proceeded with my day one science spam on the launchpad. After recovery, I thought, what if I tipped the pod over and rolled it off the pad for the KSC biome? Worked quite well and got the CES (crew/eva/soil) reports for KSC, then spent a little time spinning and flipping the pod around to see how far I could get it to go. Then I thought, 'what if I attached a heat shield (or decoupler for stock games) to the top of the pod?'. And so, I made my first home built, day one rover. It runs out of power halfway to the shore, so I had to walk the rest of the way, but it's a new day one trick for me to remember. I noticed at certain speeds if your plane's nose is parting to far away from the direction you are going. Then your craft will act like a parachute/sail. Thy only way is to either have moar control surfaces and or more SAS units.

capi3101
Tweaked the Auk VIII - put in a ballasting system involving big RCS tanks so she'd stay stable after delivering her payload when it came time to land. Thought myself brilliant. Still had to make moar tweaks so she'd take off. Now she doesn't want to fly straight...

Geschosskopf
I made the ugliest, lumpiest, most strut-infested SSTO ever. But its omniphibious and can do lots of SCIENCE! Guess where it's going?

maccollo
Right when I was about to do my expedition to Mars in RSS my save file somehow got corrupted, and it took my 60 ton launcher with it.I tried for days to design a new 60 ton launcher, but they just kept failing I was about to give up when, by magic, one design didn't dismantle itself randomly on the launchpad. And I added more fuel....And then I added more boosters! It weighs 3500 tons, burns 20 tons of fuel per second, and generates 12 million pounds of thrust, and it can launch 80 tons to LEO =D Edited February 9, 2014 by maccollo
Large Kerbin Collider
Today, I tried putting a 30t base on Minmus... it took three times due to a critical lack of fuel on the first two attempts. The first stranded in LKO and required me to save Bob with a rendezvous mission, the second got stranded in low Minmus orbit and was fully manned (my arrogance of thinking I'd pull it off) by eight (!) Kerbals. The third mission I learned from my mistakes and I put a probe core on the base, allowing me to land it on Minmus unmanned. The eight Kerbals stranded in low Minmus orbit then went EVA and de-orbited one by one, each of them landing at the new Minmus base.A special mention goes to Burger Kerman, who received a medal for being the last to leave the stranded base in orbit, but not before having pushed it into a collision course with Minmus. He jumped out just in time and survived, becoming an example for many future generations of Kerbals. Now the eight Kerbals can continue the construction of the first (and ever-growing) modular base on another celestial body. Scaftin
Today I killed all my friends in a tragic space station accident.(I also killed some other kerbals but they weren't on the space station, they're in the oceans and the mountains.) Klingon Admiral
I built a rocket:What are these 'stock parts' you talk about? It was originally designed as a stylish LKO-lifter, but it can put a 3-man pod on a munar fly-by.
