here's another noob question from me

if 1 ship has a Clamp-O-Tron Jr. like a probe

and another has a Clamp-O-Tron Docking Port like a station

can the two dock with each other or do i need them both to have the same "size" docking port ?

Jr matches to Jr and the normal size can mate to normal OR the inline clamp-o-tron or the shielded clamp-o-tron. The Jr one is a size unto itself.

Edit: ...and yes, I've been caught out before now.... Mainly because the size of the icons is the wrong way round (the small docking collar has the biggest icon lol).

I also have a question and I think I'll put it in this thread instead of starting a new thread. I read that for docking 2 large ships together its a good idea to use multiple docking ports. Is this true for stations or just large moving vehicles that have thrust acting on them?

There's not much point doing it unless you're going to be putting a lot of stress on the join. It's actually quite difficult to do, as very often only one of the ports will correctly dock, and so you gain nothing.

Not too much if you can dock in general. Not allways from first try but after that you is good aligned and then you can just undock, move meter away and dock again - at second try it's usually lock all ports. I usually use is at all permanent constructions because it is nice.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
