Spontaneous Rocket Explosion

Recommended Posts

Ok, I've made an able craft to launch three people to the MUN!!! DUN DUN DUH. Anyways, during a certain stage, the rocket randomly explodes. It's when I decouple. I don't think there should be a reason it explodes, cause it's in SPACE, unless there's oxygen in the tanks, which is plausible. I decouple the large orange tank from my "lander" and when i do that, the engines on my lander explode and come right off the ship, where my kerbals are hopeless to survive, and they are Bill, Jeb, and Ernie (bob's on the Mun) and I restart not wanting dead brothers on bob's hands.

EDIT: I have serperatons, to disengage the Orange tank, since the first stages needed them

This is most likely caused by the tiniest touch of the fuel tank to your ship. The only fix to this is use the decoupler that adds the biggest gap between you and the empty tank, also add some sepatrons onto it to make it "boost" away from your ship causing "hopefully" no damage! If that does not work I would like to see your craft file to see if I can fix the problem.

I already have seperatons

yes, the seperatrons works, but i think what the problemo is, is that they "rip" of the Middle engine, (the other engines surround it) and it tugs on the ship itself thus exploding, but only theory

So like I asked before, may I see your craft file to try and fix this for you?

Could have been a case where the tank/SRB was being attached directly to the side instead of being attached to the radial decoupler. When attaching things to the radial decouplers, just make sure you're actually attaching the part you want to drop to the decoupler. Otherwise, when the decoupler is staged, it blows up against the fixed part you want to drop.
