Spaceplane Fuel Flow issues

Recommended Posts

Ah, well.

With the "I DON'T USE MODS BECAUSE IT'S CHEATING" folks that like to run around occasionally (mind you, it's been rather quiet on that front for a while now, I think?), that would have been info useful to know.

Still, I should have worded that differently, and maybe not jump to that particular conclusion.

Are we still friends?

And with friends, I obviously mean "two people who don't even know each other, aside from a brief interaction on forums".

LOL sorry if the "tone" of my reply felt like I was reacting harshly to your commentary, but yeah, no big deal. I merely wanted to emphasize that I do like mods, in fact I used to create mods for Orbiter: Space Flight Simulator (I helped develop parts of the NASSP Apollo addon, and created astronauts, the LRV, and two Apollo landing site meshes...also *trying* to update my Brighton Beach 2013 addon, but since I got into KSP, that project will be in the backburner for an indefinite amount of time LOL) so yeah, I love mods :)

Try running a fuel line from tank 1 to tank 2; tank 2 to tank 3; tank 3 to tank 4; then tank 4 back to tank 1.

Effectively, all the tanks should drain evenly, so your craft's overall balance isn't affected.

That sounds like a winner...although I can't declare victory unless I first try it out, obviously. But nice idea.

Fuelline > normal flow, so you actually just need one simple fuelline to solve this

Edit: it's a fuelline running from the first tank all the way back onto the engine, not onto the last tank! Don't think it works if you put it from tank to tank

Still nothing works, The solution is the TAC fuel Rebalancer, and The Spaceport maintenance is taking too long ;.;

You sure you got the arrows (yes the arrows on the yellow pipe actually mean something--before, I didn't know this LOL) pointed in the RIGHT direction?

My idea worked for using Jet Engines on a rocket project I was working on. For some reason they were pulling fuel unevenly from each fuel tank. So I tied them all together to pull fuel evenly. Worked for me. Not 100% certain it will work on a horizontal craft like a spaceplane.

In theory, if you could pull fuel evenly from every tank, it should eliminate balance issues!

When I was doing the machingbird challenge, I designed my spaceplanes for stability with ASAS. What this let me do was monitor the fuel levels and transfer the fuel from back to front; once the rear fuel tank is empty, it won't refill.

I also tended to use the bicoupler to carry 4 fueltanks, two off each of the prongs, which let me keep the center of mass fairly stable by shifting the bottom tanks, then the top tanks.

This isn't a pretty solution, but it does work. Probably easier to go with the fuel balancer mod or one of the suggested design strategies.

Seems my idea of balancing the fuel flow will only work if each tank is assigned an engine(s), like in my video posted previously. Then you could tie them all together to pull evenly from each tank.

If you have a string of fuel tanks, it always pulls from one end or another. There's no way to get them to all drain out evenly. At least with stock parts and no mods.

Simple use the in-game fuel transfer, pumping fuel from the back to the front, you don't need to turn around the camera everytime, so it will work, is just a matter of patience.

Well, the idea is to do this automatically.
