Kerman's Landing

Centipedes

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I just bought this game two days ago.

I haven't stopped playing. Anyways, landed on the Mun for this first time.

xUbHIJw.png?

Really glad the ladder wasn't too long, and the lander legs stood the capsule up straight (not a good landing).

Enjoy reading everyone's posts. Thanks.

Welcome to the forums! :)

That's a really touching tribute you've made there. Always remember and honor the fallen.

And I can understand completely about how absolutely addicting this game can be. I've spent many long hours of piloting myself.

Since you're a new player, I'd highly recommend checking out the Drawing Board (link in my sig) if you ever get stuck on anything, or just if you want to improve your skills. There's a number of tutorials and other handy reference aids there. Don't be afraid to post any questions you may have in the How To forum as well.

Happy landings!

Reminds me of one of my more emotional KSP moments, where I had built the large 3 seat command modle into a lander, crahsed it into the mun and stranded the astronauts, and then hastily built a lander with the living space to go retrieve them, which promptly crashed into the mun because I had underestimated how long it would take to slow my descent. My head was literally in my hands.

Needless to say I promptly ended both missions.

I bet if Squad totalled up all the number of kerbs that were stranded on the mun in this way it would be a startling number lol.

You landed on the Mun after 2 days of playing? Damn, when I bought this game year ago it took my much longer (not to mention numerous explosions on the way). I guess the manouever node is really a game changer.

Manoeuvre nodes and excellent tutorials all play a part. I've been playing for a week now, and have completed successful return missions to both Mun and Minmus, have a Station orbiting Kerbin equipped with several tanks for re-fuelling purposes as well as having enough habitat space to house 30 Kerbals, managed to rescue 3 Kerbals from Mun when a wafty landing managed to tip their craft on it's side, and have a capsule orbiting Duna, though it isn't equipped for landing and doesn't have enough fuel to get back, so that will be another rescue mission.

I wouldn't have been able to do any of this if it wasn't for the help and tutorials that this wonderful community have made available.

Wow. Well, my first flight on the 0.13 demo were a distaster, one after another. When I finally managed to crush my 400t spacecraft into the Mun with few thousand km/s I was so proud (I just fire the engines and point the rocket to the Mun). I also remember first days after the planets came out and desperate aerobraking of my probe (mod) in Duna's atmosphere with 10.000+ m/s - one part survived! I was also very proud of myself :)

I kinda miss these days, first Mun or Minmus landing were super exciting, now it's more like "meh, I did this 1000 times". I remember when I was thinking "Second moon? How am I going to get there, it's so small and inclined. This is impossible!". Those were the days! When we wanted to fly to space we just straped a crapload of boosters and hope for the best - and we liked it! :grumpy old man blah blah:
