Welcome, Kevo!

I look at myself as a pretty skilled player at this point, but I'll tell you, I was pretty dang stupid when I started out. I ragequit KSP several times and slowly came back to it each time wanting to learn it. It took about a month before I really figured it out. It didn't help that there were no tutorials, but hey.

Speaking of, we have a huge tutorials section with lots of helpful information (I've even made some myself!), I advise taking a look there. It's under How-To's in General.

I think we were all pretty stupid at one point.

It does take a while to get a hang of orbital maneuvers. You can try looking on the tutorials on how to use the maneuver nodes.

Until you learn the principals, things seem a little counter-intuitive. Fiddling with the maneuver nodes can teach you what you need to do.

Welcome to the forums! :)

On the subject of tutorials, I've got a small collection of them listed on the Drawing Board (link in my sig) to help players quickly and easily find the information they're looking for. It doesn't cover everything just yet, but we're getting there.

And don't feel bad about finding the game hard to master. It takes a lot of practice to get good at even the basic skills, but fortunately, once you learn those basics, it gets easier and easier to put them together to achieve tougher and more ambitious goals. If you stick with the game, you'll find entire worlds' worth of new and interesting experiences, both literally and metaphorically.

Happy landings!

Welcome to the KSP Community! KSP just takes practice. When I first started I couldn't even get a rocket out of the atmosphere! Now here I am landing on Vall. It also took me 193 attempts to land on Mun, and yes I counted my fails. We are all noobs when we start a game. :) For tutorials I recommend Scott Manley on youtube.
