I have ancestor who fought in WWI and the other in WWII. Both are dead, but one of my grandma's has their war medals.

The house that my dad used to live in had a large Cabinet, with all the medals his side of my family received, from my great-great grandfather (And probably even earlier!) to himself.

That was cool.

Banana boats.

They came from Aslace France (formerly Germany).

The name was entered at Ellis Island as Muench.

And I'm sitting here, letting my blonde hair catch some sunshine as my blue eyes read this, thinking that in WWII they inadvertently scattered the genetics they sought to the winds by scaring away all the people that carried them.

Boats made out of ripe bananas? That would taste good... :D

My family has been in the military since before they even invented medals! >:D

So they were the first people to invent the military?

Just start to criticize either the Japan or Germany and you'll see what I mean.

Why would I do that? Japan and Germany are fine countries.

The parties ruling them during the second war? Not so fine. In fact so unfine I'd go as far as saying that the atrocities they ordered were among some of the worst in history.

However the countries themselves? Very nice places.

Ow.

I think we have an entry for: "How to troll Chobit 101"

step one: Be uninformed about military things.

@Mercy: you're doomed.

Not necessarily... Militarily speaking, I'm dumb as a post. And somehow, Chobit still speaks to me...

German Engineering remains extremely talented to this day, despite having been abused so badly during wartime.

Hell, even their engineering during the war was brilliant. Simply put to the wrong use.

They recovered massively from WW2. That's very impressive after the damage they suffered.
