Control from here vs switch target

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

I'm hving three ships which I'm tring to dock together but I'm not sure what's the easiest way to switch between them so that I can take turns steering them.

The switch to seems to work find on the map when you have two ship icons over eachother but once I have three, I can only swop between two ships. When in the fly mode, it doens't seem to work to double click on the ship that I want to control.

The only third option seems to be to select control from here from another ship, but I dont understand what this does. What does it do? I thought I even had the option to 'control from here' on a docking port.

Any tips for selecting the ship that I want to fly where I have multiple ones bundled together?

Thanks

Yes, use the "[]" keys, they will switch you between anything in your local area that can be controlled.

The "Control from here" button is used to set a docking port, or alternate command pod as the "primary" command pod. If you do this on a docking port, then the docking port will take over your nav ball, allowing you to line up targets with your docking port rather than your command pod. this is useful if you have a docking port placed on the back or your ship, the side, etc.

Ok, my keyboard is spanish, so it's not labeled the same, but I think you are looking for the brackets. Whichever keys are to the roght of "0" on you keyboards. That cycles between ships within 2.1 kms (the physics load distance). There's actually a very useful key map in the wiki.

If they are farther away, but not far enough that you can pick their different orbits, you just have to go to the tracking station.

Rune. Hope that helps.
