Anyone got Civ 5

I've tried getting into Civ 4, but I just can't. I think it's because I'm so used to 5 that I can't get past the square tiles and all around crap graphics. HEX-TILES FOR LIFE

While the Hexs look pretty and more natural, the pretty box is empty box, feels like a hollow game to me. But I have played every version of the series.

I had played Civ IV, then I moved on to V. While there is a few things from IV I would want to see in V, the newer game's combat mechanics (better in my opinion) has made me a convert. Playing IV would mean fighting a 7 unit stack'o'doom before conquering a city, moving the battles into the field was a good move. I would love if VI had a soundtrack like IV's, and a-much-better diplomacy system (during most of my last game, Poland was the superpower, and everybody hated, or at least disliked, him. I eventually managed to cut him to size, taking a few cities per war between us, but it would've been so much cooler if I could set up a "grand alliance" with everyone else, make agreements on who attacks where, and how the spoils of war are divided, and wipe Poland off the map entirely.).

I have Civ 5 +GK from the steam summer sale, and since then have played 46 hours. Love the game and the GK pack, spying, religon, great war units, :D

Usually this is what happens in my savegame:

-Oh yes, we are going to win by science or culture!

-Going good!

*japan or Egypt decleares war*

-NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

-Fine. *builds up massive army*

-Over a lot of turns, I eventually defeat them.

-Then I go for domination victory.

I've got it, i wouldn't say it was a bad game but the diplomacy seems so very threadbare, me like! Me hate! Oh me like you again....liking......still liking you......oh thank you you been very nice to me.....yep love you loads.....AHA! Me hate you again for no reason other than you trying to "win" the game!

Civ series used to make me feel like i was the leader of a great nation, Civ 5 made me feel like i was playing a board-game with terrible AI.

imo the entire game is based around "winning", which completely misses the point of the series.

I want a lot of the changes and additions in BNW, but its emphasis on city states means I will not purchase it. I hate city states and think they are the weakest new addition to gameplay generally. It'd be ok if they were a minor part of the game but they aren't, and making them an even more major part would ruin the game for me.

I got it way back in 2010 (I think), but that was when I had never used steam before and had to make an account. The game didn't really work on my older computer. I tried it again when I got a new laptop for my birthday back in April but I had gotten a different steam account when I got Arma III Alpha and forgotten about the other one. It wont let me play it since the product key was already used (I bought a physical copy). so I have no idea what the password for the other account is, and it doesn't send an email to any of my inbox for some reason when I ask it to. So right now the case is just sitting off to my left, being a waste of $50.

I love Civ 5, taking a break. I was manic on Civ 4 too, sold it to a friend and bout Civ 4 on steam instead. I would go back to Civ 2 but never Civ 3!

Once I have got Kerballing out my system, I will Civ for a bit until I mod FM14 like I do every year.
