SSTOs - Mod and/or Plugin to Help Maintain Pitch Degree

The title pretty much says it all. I'm extremely new to SSTOs, and I have flight instructions for a mod I got. The instructions say to travel to X altitude at Y degrees pitch. I'm horrible at flying planes, and they get out of control often while I'm trying to keep them set. I know ASAS will keep it in place, but getting to the pitch is the problem. Is there a mod out there that can maintain the pitch by itself?

Stock does it. Just press alt+wasdqe and you can set your trim by increments

Setting pitch trim may work for very stable designs. Avionics doesn't have an integral term, so will allow your heading to drift off the setpoint. ASAS has an integral term, but is relative to a fixed point in space rather than a surface-relative heading, so you will inevitably pitch slowly up as you fly along. For autopilots, you can use MechJeb's Smart ASS to set a surface-relative heading, and I believe there is a similar function in the Lazor system but I'm not sure.

Setting the pitch only via the ASAS won't do the trick - as you go quite fast with a SSTO, your angle to the surface normal changes quite fast - you'd have to adjust your pitch constantly, so you could easliy fly manual.

MechJeb and Lazor Flight System adjust your Pitch quite well (Lazor has some better finetuning for planes built in though...)

But: you always should build a plane you can fly manually: if the sutomatic system can't cope with a situation, you should be able to fly that thing.

AmpYear and RemoteTech both use the same flight computer module that lets you do this. RemoteTech also changes gameplay a lot for probes, but AmpYear for some reason omits roll control from the autopilot.

Mechjeb Smart A.S.S. has a mode for just what you describe. Install the newest Mechjeb and check out the surface mode in smart A.S.S.

I use that all the time for just about everything.
