KSP Essentials package

I understand your concerns but the authors of these plugins didn't seem that bothered about it. A lot of people use MechJeb and RemoteTech, judging by their popularity on SpacePort. I thought it would only make sense to combine them with other plugins. You will be able to opt out of installing each and any of the plugins if you so wish.

Now for a small announcement:

I have been in contact with TeranisElsu, creator of the TAC Fuel Balancer and he has given me permission to add this plugin to the Essentials package :) Talk about power of the community :P

Hmmm, I don't think the name "essentials" is very fitting for this pack. Some of the mods, like the alarm clock, subassembly loader and Kerbal Engineer Redux. However, the caterpillar tracks mod, for example, I would not deem an essential - it is "just" fancy rover wheels. It isn't because I don't like the tracks, I use them myself, but I just don't think all of your listed mods can be deemed essential. Keep in mind, that when you call this mod pack "essentials", you signal that these mods are a must for every most KSP players. And in that case, the mod pack doesn't fit its name. I think you should either ONLY use really "essential" mods, or just rename the modpack. I think a rename would be the best choice. It is your modpack, though, so I can't command you to do anything.

Well that was the original idea. But since it has evolved into a pack designed to improve your overall KSP experience and add more functionality.

It's named ''essentials'' because it offers what most players are looking for. Look on spaceport, these are some of the most popular plugins - not only in terms of ''I NEED it to play the game properly'' but also adding some degree of realism or detail, depth to the game.

And ''Collection of Plugins That Are Generally Popular, Well Received and Cool Which I Consider Useful and/or Game Enhancing And Managed To Get The Permission For Redistribution of Which'' doesn't quite have the same ring to it as ''Essentials''.

while i support the idea of such a pack - i think youre overfilling it for an "essentials"-pack.

Why not have more than one pack where you bundle similar mods? I for myself would say essentials are:

Mechjeb,

Kethane,

B9,

And thats it.

Other Packs could include Structural parts. Such a bundle could include

KW rocketry,

AIES,

Deep Mission Pack,

and KSPX of course

Others could enhance the game with functionality - those could be the Ion-hybrid-engines-pack and HooliganLabs' Airships.

That's just the point. It is his collection of mods and the that's the title he chose. If you read sal's response your post is relatively unnecessary. If you don't want to use a portion of it, just remove it yourself. No one is forcing you to use all of the pieces that come with the download.

I personally think it's a great that GROOV3ST3R is collecting popular packs and putting them together.

Thanks Shadow :) I have been a little ''disheartened'' with the community rating my project down just because they don't consider the list of plugins I have went out of my way to collect ''essential''. Suffice to say every bit of encouragement helps.

Audiopulse - I understand. But you listed mostly part packs. And fairly large ones too..

I have used B9 and it contains close to 150 parts? I have even contacted the author of B9 and his view was that if anyone wants that particular pack of parts, they can always come to him as it is a very large collection of parts and he does not intend for it to be mixed with other plugins. I agree with him, in a way, after experiencing just how many parts flooded my inventories after I tried his pack out.

Essentials is not meant to add hundreds of parts to make sci-fi looking rockets and planes with - it is all about functionality and giving people more abilities, more things to do or enjoy. Everyone who tried Chatterer and Aviation Lights says these are now always part of their crafts - if you try the, I promise you will like them too as it is not about the amount of parts they add, but the cool effects they add which practically everyone enjoys. In a way, they add more depth and realism to the game, picking up on things that SQUAD didn't have the time to implement themselves.

I think I will just bung the whole thing on GitHub and share it from there since SpacePort is being VERY annoying and won't let me upload.

And how is the review of [insert name of well-known KSP pilot here] going? :D

Hmm, good question. I have not spoken to DEADBEEF about it yet. I should bring it up next time I catch hi on IRC.

In a way, I think SAL should stay since it's one of the most useful tools I have come across. Also nobody contacted me about this particular issue and I was so busy that untill now, I didn't even realise it's gone 0.0 There is a compatibility patch for 20.2 so I see no reason why I wouldn't use it like this - especially since it worked when I tested it.

EDIT: Actually Ill just try to get him now since there are copyright issues involved...
