International Civilian Space Program Series

What is it? This is a new youtube series similar to what Hoc does on his video series where he takes user submitted Crafts and uses them to build Bases.

The Difference is that this is no moon base.. This is a whole space program. From the main space craft.. To the lifters… Right down to the small probes and rovers and even the KerbalNauts. The whole video series will be based off user submitted crafts.. With a catch… Yes a catch.. can you design a vessel and meet the cost? Think of this new series as a self made campaign Game.. Were you help.. :)

Cost? That’s correct.. The Civilian Space Program has a budget.. You build the craft and I buy them with the budget for that year… So if your thinking massive vessels of expensive parts.. Think again.. I need ships that are small, versatile and come within the budget of of the CSP. The Budget Program was written by me in Microsoft Excel. Keeps track of cost, and missions. I will post pictures later as the Budget Breakdowns. But watch the series to learn more as I flesh out the system.

Current Mods I use: Important.

B9 Aerospace

KSPX

Kethane

We are given a new budget every year.. Based on my own little calculations that will be kept up in this thread.. And possibly in the videos. The starting budget for the civilian space program is listed below.. After every mission the budget will be subtracted with the cost of the vessels used in the video.. When A year passes.. We will add money to the budget. (Lovely tax paying kerbals)

When you look at the budget remember that it might seem high.. But this budget is for a kerbal Year!! And Fuel is not free.. Nor is Kerbalnauts… More on this at a later time. But fuel cost will be added by me.. At current prices.. The fuel prices can also fluctuate.. More math…. ïÂÅ  For instance the first 2 episodes are already done.. And the budget is already cut in half... Thos Munshine V are expensive!!!

Kerbalnauts.. Cost money.. The current roster of them is already in place.. Including our favorites. Current roster includes.

1. Jebidiah

2. Bil (Killed before series 11)

3. Bob

4. Anmore

5. Adeny

6. Gusbas

7. Malkuth

That’s it.. If they die they have to be replaced.. Current training cost for 1 Kerbalnaut is 55,000 KD. If I need more then they need to be trained. Do You want to be a Kerbalnaut?

Current Budget: 227,000 KD (Kerbal Dollars) This Is Updated As Much as Possible And Might Not Match current episode.. Because I play alot outside episodes. 7/3/2013 10 AM.

Current Contracts Out For Bid (This Is Where You Look For What I need For The Program)

None Series coming to a close in episode 12

New Updates to my Mission Pack for the Mod Mission Controller.. Added the New Commercialization Of Space Mission Expansion Pack to the download.. Now you should have two packs. Civilian space Program and the Commercialization of space.

Also for you KeoSync lovers out there I added a Keosync mission to the Civilian Space Program Pack. Its a general mission so you can use it for anything.. Remote tech.. etc.. Thanks everyone.. And as always if you notice any issues send me a pm.. The missions should work.. But Its hard to test them all by myself.. LOL.. And code them.

I signed up just so I could post this.

I might be able to build a launch vehicle for a rover I have already designed. It would be small enough and it could double as a re-supply vessel.

What do you think?

Well.. If it saves money it would be great. :) To figure out fuel cost just load the ship up and use the liquid fuel amount and times it by 2.45. which is the current fuel cost (its a flat rate for all fuels in ship) From my experience a Aspargus type launcher is about the cheapest you can make in the game. I loved using the Munshine V.. But its launcher was so expensive.. I mean litterally 75% of the cost of the whole vessel.

Cool, how would I figure total cost, do I multiply total weight by a number? Or use the price on each part?

I use Kerbal Engeneer redux to calculate the cost.. Which in turn just adds up the cost of the craft with the built in Money cost of all parts.. You can see the cost in the description.. But engineer makes it simple.. Just add the part to the vessel and it list the cost total.

Ok have episode 2 up and showing how the supply system is going to work and this is the basic rundown of it.

How Supplies Work.

Empty Command pods = Supply Pods.

Kerbals can't stay in space forever.. They need to be resupplied.

For now this is how it works.. If anyone has any suggestions to improve on system that be great.

1 man command pods (empty) will supply 3 kerbals for 3 months.

3 man command pods (empty) will supply 3 kerbals for 5 months.

It is assumed that when kerbals launch into space they automatically have 1 months of supplies.

The amount of time kerbals spend in space will be kept track of with the kerbal Time Clock mod. If time runs out before kerbals are supplied or go home.. They die.

This looks great! I think you should have mission payouts by the government and private companies, for example let's say Koogle wanted a satellite in orbit and they offered 100,000 KD for a lifter and launch. Just an idea.

Also, since the fuel tanks come fully fueled, wouldn't fuel be included in the part price? For example, the Jumbo-64 costs 12,500 KD and holds 2880 units of liquid fuel. 2880 x 2.45 = 7056, meaning we still have 5444 KD for the tank itself.

Pretty much every thing I have seen Do this thing before has made the fuel supply seperate. And an extra cost. Think the developers even intend for the cost to be seperate. And since I have kethane installed once we get established fuel cost will not be as much of an issue I don't think.

Oh and on the mission things. Yup it's in the works. In fact I just finished editing mission 3 which is a showcase of the mission system. With a satellite launch. :).

Still working on types though. Does include civilian and government.

Anyone one has any ideas for types of missions feel free to write them up. It's hard coming up with the parameters for them. Make it a good challenge for video. Already though of some keosyc types.

Episode three is up. And I have tested and liked a new craft file that will be used in the next couple of episode.. right now Im getting a base unit for a station up.. That does not mean I still don't need a station.. Cause all it is right now is living quarters and some small fuel tanks to hold me by until We can grow the station a bit.. That will be launched next episode.. 4.

Thanks for using my rocket, it's pretty awesome to see her on youtube :)

Your welcome.. I did some modifications to it.. But don't know if I will be able to use it at this point.. The lander is still in use though and is landed as a backup for the Mun Base.. Might actually have to be used... :)

Updated video series with newest episode 5 Igaluk Reusable Service Lander and Rover you can get the vessel here:

Also I need a Kethane miner pronto.. So anyone has any idea.. Want to submit a vessel feel free.

Also one last thing.. I am in the process of converting my series to use the Mission Controller mod.. I am writing my own missions based on what I had down in my Excel worksheet.. Only this time I will also release the mission pack to you guys when its done.. Its going to be pretty big.. And have many different plot lines in it. It will also be based a little different then some of the other ones I have seen.. The whole package is going to be desiegned to work along side you Sandbox game. That means the payouts will be adjusted for you can run what you want on the side.. And have enough money.. As long as you complete missions for profit.. More on this later.

Thanks for watching guys.. Have great weekend.

What Kind of submission do you want? Also be aware that Mission Controller no longer uses the Kerbal SPace Program Default Cost.. He changed it because a lot of mods are not using the Cost Varible.. Or just plane leaving at whatever Copy they got the original .cfg from.. So he came up with his own formulas for cost now. .They are pretty close though now.

You should just use MissionController to check your Vehicle cost if using that program.

I sent you the .Craft earlier, sadly that quoted price included a shoestring budget lifter that required the lander to do the brunt of its final ascent and orbit. The newer lifter and refined lander are much more reliable, but also more expensive.

Its ok Mecha.. Ill check it out.. I did have a problem opening the .craft file.. What version of Kethane you using? I got a Obsolete file warning. I think I can fix it though by installing the version before the newest one.. Which has the conversion files built into it.. I check it out later when I wake up. :)
