Manned Extraplanetary Vessels

I like some of the ideas I've seen here. A big mission to Duna is my next goal, so this is helping lots. It seams most people go with a modular tug design for the interplanetary ship, but what I needed an idea of was how to arrange the mission profile once in orbit around Duna. This has helped!

Remember that Outpost in the first post? It was a real *beep!* to land. I foollishly decided to land the whole section in one piece. I recommend setting action groups for undocking the ports betwen sections and parachutes. I forgot about that and had to panically switch between everything like 1km above the surface.

And I start too many sentences with "I".

From top to bottom:

Spider Lander

MEV Caucasus

MEV Taurus

Spare fuel tank

DAV Triton

Just waiting there unmanned for new shift to come and extend the Outpost.

Hi guys

I'm trying to build a mult stage manned lander for Duna and other plannets similar to this. I want to use a standard lander and then dock it with a "mission pack" in Kerbin orbit before burning for the planet.

How to you lift these ships off of Kerbin??

Zenith Rocket Family.

Simply load the rocket you want. Detach the rocket. Delete current main Control Pod and start building.

Cool looks pretty great, I'm trying to design my own launchers so was looking for inspiration mostly but I'll give them a go. I'm drifting more towards stock parts as these seem to be the least bug prone. I guess they should be lol

I've already posted this in another thread but since I was going to post another as well I thought I'd show it off again.

Manned mission to Laythe and Vall. First landed on Laythe, then got back into orbit with the ascent stage and docked it to the second lander. Headed over to Vall and landed the smaller lander there, deployed a unmanned probe as well just before landing (by hovering and then moving off a bit). Then flew the two kerbals home. Since the interplanetary stage still had some fuel left it's still in Vall orbit, just in case.

And here's my latest manned interplanetary mission, my second Moho base. A single interplanetary launch from Kerbin's orbit with a base, 2 rovers, reusable 2 crew lander capable of landing and getting back to orbit plus a 2 crew Kerbin return vehicle. Achieved with three Kerbin to orbit launches. Each rover also had 2 deployable science probes.

Nice looking Rockets you got there! I might have to try and replicate them as I'm sht at Building things at the moment!!!

Zenith Rockets are stock. You just need to put them into the right game folder
