How to-Save craft file---Action groups turorials?

Recommended Posts

How do you--

Save a rocket/build as a craft file and name the file? When I save in the VAB (upper right "save" tab, it only saves as an untitled.

How do you create action groups? (I found the action groups tab in the VAB, but no clue how to use it.)

Any tutorials out there for Action Groups? I am searching, but figured asking here might get me a faster result. I am finding there is info out there on topics, it's just very scattered, kind of like space debris....

To name a ship: click in the box at the top of the VAB. A cursor will appear; just delete "Untitled Space Craft" and name your ship something cool like "Inevitable Ball of Fire That Will Be Visible from Space 7" or some such. Once named, the game will save the craft file with the same name.

No solid tutorial for action groups out there and I have only a vague notion of how they work my own self. And I'd have to be playing the game to give you an idea of how they work. Sorry I can't be helpful on that question; perhaps later today.

Using action group is simple. Just go in the mode in VAB. At the left, there 3 columns. First one from left is the "trigger" (dont know how it's named), Second column is the mapped action. Third one is the available actions.

Try this:

1. Go in action group mode in VAB.

2. Select Custom1 from the first column

3. Select an engine (or whaterver has an action). The third column will show the possible action for the selected part.

4. Select Toggle Engine. You'll see the action will be added to the middle column.

From now your ships can toggle the engine when pressing the 1 key.

Custom1 to 10 are mapped to the numbers key.

Hope that help a little.

Okay, figured out the saving craft file. I need to click on the Words "Untitled Space Craft" in That box, change name, then click the save tab in the upper right.

Thank you, that gives me a bit of a starting point.

Also found this video, an action group tutorial: (Stomp has some good videos and examples, plus he sometimes has craft download links with his videos. I downloaded his ISS crafts, 3 files to play around with.)
