Spiritwolf/Hanland Submissions

Recommended Posts

This is the story of my Empire. I have designed a ship, but I am still trying to get it into orbit without problems

During a colonization effort to deliver their kind (They are still kerbals lets get that straight) to a whole different star. (They lived in a star system 50 light years away from Kerbol) After traveling the distance of 50 light years in cryogenic sleep, their ship crashed into Eve. At the time, Hanland controlled the Eve system in secrecy from Spiritwolf. After being captured by Hanland, they spent 4 years on the roasting planet under the tyrannical rule of Hanland, until they attacked their captors and chased them off the planet; unknown to them, Spiritwolf had arrived at the Joolian System.

Attempting to make a supply ship/carrier. Hoping to have extra fuel to either get it to where I want it or to supply other ships.

I wonder if I'm allowed to send a ship up to resupply what ever I send up to orbit. I think filling up fuel may help me get interplanetary. Also could make it easier to send to orbit if its not filled with supplies in take off. Planning on added 2 auxiliary fuel tanks by docking to make it more useful.

Wonder what ammo types to supply it with. Standard torpedoes or try to design something more powerful?

1. Never have too much fuel. Resupplying and refueling is going to be a big part of military operations in season two.

2. I assume you want to have some standard torpedoes - much of fighters on both sides will be using them. But making a few special torpedoes that can be reloaded into a fighter's standard launcher (Docking Port Jr.) may add some spice to the future conflict.

Well, so far, I managed to build a ship that holds 4x3 sets of standard torpedoes. I could have added better ones on but the part count reached just over 300 (about 305 including about 10 struts). Each reload (3 torps) has a tug system allowing it to be unloaded. I think its best to reload by using the fighter to dock onto the pile instead of using tugs. I haven't designed the staging to send it into space but testing it by editing the save file. So far, it needs RCS (got non installed) but the "simulation" shows it works. Running this on my laptop causes a LOT of lag so it may be a bit painful to try to get it into space using staging. From the lag, I doubt that I can load the auxiliary tanks as planned. If I had a proper PC, this could be used as a carrier to dock modified Isprits on either the top (has small docking ports like a flight deck) or from the side (where them "arms" are). This is the first ever capital ship I have ever made so I'm surprised it works as planned so far.

So far, this is what I came up with. Since I'm running off a laptop, lag is a major problem for medium sized projects. This design as just over 300 parts (about 305 including 10 struts). Has 4x3 sets of standard torpedoes. Couldn't add any more or any special types due to the part count. Ship can allow modified Isprits to dock using small docking ports on the top, or the 2 larger docking ports at the bottom. The "arms" were suppose to allow fighters to dock to allow them to respond to any threats. The rear 2 "arms" are suppose to be loaded with auxiliary fuel tanks (similar to Macey's orbital silos) however this may take some time to develop due to lag. Haven't designed staging to get to orbit yet. So far, the systems seem to work. 2hi8kyu.jpgImage shows a stack of 3 torpedoes moved using TUG system.

You seem to have no concept or respect for how ships are classified in real-life. xD

Unfortunately, wet-navy ship classification guidelines fall apart when trying to deal with space ships.

Historically, there are three basic types of warships - Frigates, Cruisers and Battleships. Frigates patrol ahead of a main body and act as eyes and ears. They are maneuverable, lightly armed and lightly armored. Cruisers are your jack-of-all-trades ship, and frequently were asked to patrol individulally, "showing-the-flag", as it were. Battleships were the ships-of-the-line, and intended to toss as much shell-weight at other ships.

Then the torpedo was invented, and the Torpedo Boat - if they could get in close, they would doom a mighty battleship with but a few cheap Whitehead torpedoes. A small ship with quickfiring guns was needed - the Torpedo Boat Destroyer, later shortened to just Destroyer - which became the frequent hunter of Submarines, as well. Frequently, Sci-Fi gets this mixed up and thinks that a Destroyer is THE baddest thing in orbit, when the historical record suggests that that is pretty far from the case.

In a sci-fi KSP type of setting, there are probably Frigates - lightly-armed patrol ships used to screen for the enemy in advance of a fleet; Cruisers - long-range patrol ships operating alone; and Battleships - large ships that form the core of a fleet action. The difference between a Cruiser and Battleship might not be that large, either - is it intended to operate alone or as part of a larger force? The loss of either would be a pretty big blow, as either would not be cheap to build, launch or operate. Frigates would be far more numerous, since you can afford to launch them faster, the loss of one isn't so painful and multiple frigates operating in tandem might be quite painful to deal with.

But that's just my take on it. We're not even going to touch upon Auxiliary ships, used to provide consumables for the warships they follow around.

it has 2 little probes that can move the missiles and 1 larger probe to shift the torpedoes, probly shouldnt bring big ships within 2.5k but if you park just outside that distance the probes can resupply you with munitions

-Disclaimer-

This is a modification of a previous statement made by BlackMoon. The KSS Indomitable was recalled for refitting after it was decided she was under-gunned and under armored. She has since been re-deployed to Laythe.

Ladies and Gentlemen of SpiritWolf. BlackMoon Defense Contractors are proud to announce the loan of one of our most prized spacecraft, the KSS Indomitable Long Range Scout Frigate. This excellent blend of a scout ship and cruiser make the KSS Indomitable a force to be reckoned with. Her primary role is to lead a fleet of slower cruisers and fighter squadrons into a new system, recon the immediate area, and provide fire support with her two, replaceable SRBAPM (Solid Rocket Booster Armor Piercing Missile) These are proven to take down even the toughest of Capital Ships, often disabling heavily armored dreadnoughts in a single shot. A secondary complement of 4 "I-Beam" Missiles serves as a backup against lightly armored capital ships, or fighters. She is fully cloaked in armor, and can withstand most fighter-born missiles with little or no damage, however when it comes to capital weapons her small size and compartmentalized design are her only means of defense. Built around a 6-way adapter, the Indomitable can sustain a direct hit to any part of the ship from any missile. While that part of the ship will be annihilated, most of the ship will survive, adding survivability. For long range travel she is equipped with four Atomic Engines, and can easily reach any planet in the Kerbin System and orbit. However, for multiple consecutive missions it is advised that it is refueled via one of it's two open standard sized docking ports, or smaller mini-ports mounted on the engine armor.

Blackmoon has always helped other defense contract..., excuse me, other scientific research firms in their endeavors, and we hope that this act of friendship will lead to bigger and greater things in our partnership. Our pilots have expert experience from past theaters of wa.... from our 5 star training school. They will, however, not partake in suicide missions. They are soldiers, not radicals.

Notes: This is a modification of the original statement that was issued approximately one week ago. The changes made where the addition of a second layer of armor around the core of the ship, the addition of 4 external seats on the rear of the craft, the replacement of the LV-T30 with two LV-N rockets. Approximately 720 units of liquid fuel and respective oxidizer where added to accommodate these. While supposedly more efficient then having LV-T30, overall the ship has less Delta∆ then before. The 4 "I-beam" missiles where added next to the engines, all accurate up to 350 meters. Two small docking ports where added for increased utility.

screenshot26.png

Class: Heavy Scout

Armor: Fully Coated, but vulnerable to heavy weapons High survivability.

Speed: Out of Kerbin orbit Indomitable can comfortably reach Eeloo, then Jool, then through all of Jools moons without having to refuel. However, she requires refueling at the moment around Laythe due to bad piloting by myself.

Weapons: Two SRBAPM's reloadable, 4 I-Beam Missiles reloadable

Docking: Two standard docking ports, one front, one bottom. Two Mini Docking Ports, Left and Right side.

Company: Blackmoon Defense Contactors

Allegiance: Spiritwolf

Location: Laythe Orbit, awaiting deployment.

Greetings folks!

I have a small request for somebody of a brave heart, sharp eyes, and steady hands. Or any pirates, space bandits, and ex-soldiers.

Valley Inc. have already submitted the 'Callisto' to the Hanland and have started working on a light fighter, useful as a carrier fighter or maybe a scout attached to a capital ship. Yet we still have worries about that Light Escort, even after testing it out ourselves. So this is what we are asking for is a pilot to do.

Retest it. It is already doomed to failure or success if selected but we would like more input on its ability to delivery its warheads and survive battle. So we are asking for a crazy...skilled pilot to carry out three tests for us. Not two, not four, three.

One - We know it can fire, and hit the target, at a distance most ships engaged at in the first season. But we would like it to be tested at 900+ meters.

Two - A fast attack run, in which the 'Callisto' is flown by the target and unloads its warheads at point-blank range.

Three - Fire at its armored sides at 200 to 500 meters. We know it is unlikely to stand up against capital ship weapons but we would like to see the results - could the pilot survive for example?

If you do try out these tests please give us honest feedback. Pros, cons, suggestions. We would like to use that information to improve on the light fighter. Of course, the fighter is being built for different goals in mind, but input will greatly help shape the future of our program.

Here is the blueprints of the 'Callisto'

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BzWVddevUqx5Qi1PcG1ES0dPeU0/edit?usp=sharing

The Action Groups control the missiles being fired - 1, 2, 3 - of course this can be changed to suit the pilot. It can not be reloaded so you would need at least two in orbit for testing.

We only ask it be tested against Spiritwolf ships, medium to large, as those will likely be what it is up against if selected and what it was designed to deal with. We hope.

Thank you very much for reading this posting. We will send you payment, to the bank account of your choice, when your report is received. Then we will give you a five day head start before sending the ninjas after you because you know too much. Hey, sorry, but we're the bad guys. Don't worry, we'll kill the ninjas with trained monkeys. And send the money to your widow. Then give her five days head start.

Look forward in dealing with you in a future life,

Valley Inc.

Allied to Hanland (until their back is turned).

PS - Just joking - we're not going to pay you.

Enter AlTi AD inc.

AlTi AD Incorporated is a pioneering aerospace engineering company that has for years directed its considerable resources to the profitable development of the local solar system achieving great success in extra planetary mining operations and scientific discovery. AlTi AD came from humble beginnings nearly forty years ago as a small aluminum cellphone case manufacturing company founded by Bradno Michael Kerman. The company slowly grew from simple cellphone cases to computer manufacturing, spots gear, and even a stylish clothing line, but remained a light weight metals fabricator despite the success of these other ventures. After twenty years AlTi Fabrication and Engineering Group, as it was called then, expanded to manufacture aerospace components for some of the top companies in the industry. Relationships with some of there entities grew and thirty years after its birth the company merged with Dina Aerospace Connections and a small defense contractor called Bitter Defense and Logistics, Becoming AlTi Dina & Bitter International Solutions. The name would change two years later when AlTi bought controlling interest in the company finely becoming AlTi Aerospace & Defense Solutions Incorporated or AlTi AD inc. Today under the direction of its third CEO Reannah Lee Michael Kerman daughter of its founder the company has made leaps and bounds in practical and even profitable space exploration. The corporation's most recent accomplishments include a permanent scientific research outpost on the planet Duna, as well as two high capacity fuel depots in orbit and a resource extraction rig near the rim of the northern icecap. AlTi AD inc. also boasts an effective logistics train capable of reaching the outer planets and resupplying missions on the outer rim. Comprised of several modular tug craft and even the Mammoth class super tanker this resupply and refueling system has proven to be invaluable in aiding the Corporation and her allies in pushing the boundaries of exploration.

Lastly in light of the incidents between the Spirit Wolf corporation and Hanland the AlTi AD defense department has seen fit to engineer a new line of SSTO multi-role attack fighter and a series of light and heavy capitol ships to protect its investments in orbit and beyond. The latest prototype to come out of the hanger is the OF-57 multi-role heavy attack stealth fighter. Named the Phoenix class the Mk I is designed as a low orbital intercepter armed with two linked missile hard-points that can be outfitted with a verity of light to medium yield ordinance for rapid ground to orbit response. The Mk I can also rondveu with a refueling module for long ranged strike missions or escort. The Mk II and Mk III are long ranged attack fighters designed to reach orbit without any modules or weapons dock with a station for fuel and armament and strike at a target from long range. These models are far more flexible than the Mk I with several hard-points capable of being outfitted with practically any sized weapon, but lack the response time for emergency interception. Rumors of a more efficient Mk IV to replace the Mks II and III have been confirmed but an even stranger rumor of a VTOL Mk V has yet to be validated.

The current liaison of international relations for AlTi AD inc. has been meeting with representatives form Spirit wolf to discuss the possibility of a mutual information and defense exchange possibly even joint expeditionary missions but nothing final has been agreed upon. For now we will just have to wait and see what happens.

AlTi AD inc. Your Future Is Bright. :)

That's the address to a corporate video of the fighter. I cant put a screen shot up yet. I hope you guys like it there will be more to come after i get my computer fixed. I have 5 capitol ship designs i have to make videos for all can get into orbit all are 100% stock parts and only the carrier is over 250 parts. I also have all the aid craft to make proof and videos of as well as all the bases and stations I've put up I've got to now replace them lol. Ill also get the craft file as soon as i get an account up with a file sharing web-sight. Keep it up Kerbanaughts.

i have two mine designs that merely ram a ship in range of it. One is for large capitol ships and the other is smaller. Im sure both will do. and launching them or deploying them is quite simple. I've thought of a hacking drone that docked with a ship and took over but in a real time situation the ship attempting to dock would just become a missile any way if either craft decided to change course.

I have developed something that turns their fleet into obsolete metal coffins.

I know those type of super heavy missiles are awesome.... one vaporized the insides of my destroyer.

Notice there is nothing inside the now hollow wreck of a ship.... despite minor outer damage. And this was from a firing range of 300m.
