Sirkut you are doing multiples now? i.e you can move more than 1 piston? (as in telescopic piston?) if so lol you should see what i've got for you

Can we do the same for sliding rails?

I'd like this too. I'll try to push Sirkut to add them. It should hopefully just be a cfg file change.

It is a cfg change. Look at the value of stringdamper(i think its called that) on the free moving washer The value should be 0.00001 or something.

I remember ZodiusInfuser pitched a part that had a solid core with a ring around it that could spin around it, any work being done a part like that?? Just curious cause I've got ideas that kind of part would be ideal for!!!

It's being worked on.

As for the cfg edit I'm only letting you know if you can't wait for it as I'm not near a computer until later tonight. The update may include a new graphic for the docking washers.

Yay! Now they will have a texture instead of being only grey models!

A few quick questions...

For one, I don't seem to have the speed control available. I do have the new multi-sized rams and rails, so I know I installed at least part of the mod correctly. I'll try to make sure everything's sorted. It's probably some remnant of the last version.

Secondly, the "high load" rotator cannot be interacted with once placed. It moves and functions just fine, but it can't be picked up again, edited in action groups, or right-clicked in game.

Thirdly, I'm sure this has been mentioned, but on a scale from one to no, how hard would it be for me to edit the hinges/rails/rams etc... to eliminate the springiness? I don't know if that's just a hard limitation of the game engine or anything, but if it's possible to have more rigid hinges (for things like wings and engines) that'd be grand. Even the heavy duty hinge and rotator are still pretty wobbly for my uses.

(for those curious, I'm trying to make a similar drive system as used on the Prometheus. An armature with engines on either end that can rotate so you can have level engines for VTOL operations, but they aren't cooking each other during forward flight. It works well enough, but the lack of rigidity causes uneven thrust)

For one and Two, like I said, I'll try to make sure everything's installed correctly, and report back if the problems persist.

Hey I don't know if you take suggestion if this has already been suggested (that's a lot of pages) but I'll post and idea I recently had that would be phenomenal in my opinion:

First off let me say that I absolutely love this mod, it adds so much power to the game that some truly amazing creations can be made (it should be in the base game). However, that functionality gets a little limited by the complexity that comes from having a lot of robotic parts. The list of parts gets very long. What I would like to see added is a system of pages. Basically apart from setting control parts in groups, groups could be placed in pages. A page would be used to represent an autonomous system (such as one of two robotic arms on a space station). The arm itself still has multiple groups to control the different motions, but each arm can function independently of the other. The trick is, that the parts on a page only react to key controls what that page is up. So it would be possible to reuse keys for different systems (once again the two arms example: the two arms could have the same controls but could be controlled independently without having to lock all the parts).

I personally see a lot of potential in this, anyone else?

On a separate note, this is more of a question: is it possible to set numpad numbers as controls for robotics?

...

I think that the wobbliness is an engine thing unfortunately.. I like what you're thinking with the prometheus vtol though. I've tried making something like that before. Thing is a b** to balance.

Anyways, here's my latest robotics adventure:

Do you have the old DR still installed, once i deleted the old DR the speed controls showed up and also the sound started working. Im not saying this is the correct answer, but it worked for me.

Great video. what / where is the soundtrack from ??

I actually found the balance was pretty easy. Putting the main rotator right at the center of mass and making sure the armatures were symmetric front to back means that, in any configuration, the thrust is balanced with respect to the CoM. Now, if the CoM moves...

That's an awesome ship. I love how the wings fold out.

@viperwolf: I got rid of the old DR folder (don't know why I had it in the first place) but still no speed control. I'll do some snooping, try to find any other places it might be hiding. The ungrabbable rotator problem is fixed, however.

Its from a free music site by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)

Haha yeah.. shifting CoM is often the problem. I need to learn to centralize the fuel tank so it doesnt shift too much. Also, this probably isn't the answer either, but at first I thought I didn't have speed control either until I realized it is only editable in-flight.

Impressive. Can you post the .craft file somewhere? I'd like to study your build techniques on this vessel.
