Planetes Corporation - Plasma Engine Project

I've been working on a line of plasma engines that require a new kind of resource - crystals. They need to be detected, harvested and processed just like kethane, but cannot be used for anything else besides powering the plasma engines or generating energy. The whole setup is also heat sensitive and thus requires radiators and coolant to work.

I need someone who is willing to skin this lot and someone to actually implement it into the game once skinned.

I'm gone for a week, when I'm back I will answer any questions, if there are any.

You want a real sci-fi engine? Look up Quantum Thruster on Wikipedia - now that's cool stuff (if it'll ever work :D ). Seriously: plasma engine that creates its own propellant out of nothing? Thrust makes ion engines look buff, but ISP is nearly infinite - it will be a really long time before you'll run out of void in space :cool:

*facepalm* i was joking that this was a star trek plasma engine only Trekkies would get it i guess

Warp drives use warp plasma as an energy transfer medium, the same way we currently use gasoline. dilithium crystals are used to focus certain parts of the antimatter reaction but I'm not clear exactly what part.

I've actually waited for Kethane to support different resources before announcing this mod.

My current plan is to leave the balancing to the community, as I'm very short on time and only enjoy the modeling & game design part of modding. Texturing, coding and balancing have so far been rather frustrating experiences for me.

Thus I'm looking for a good way to let others contribute to the project.

I want to use this opportunity to ask for suggestions regarding the stats of the engines. The flavor text in the close-up views in the gallery might help. Nothings final though.

Furthermore: I like the name "Turborium" for the crystals unless someone comes up with something better.

Any chance of some UV maps?

For the Star Trek debate the dilithium crystals are the location where matter and antimatter combine. Somehow the dilithium makes sure that the whole ship doesn't shred itself. Then the electricity is transmitted through plasma conduits which act as superconductors at high temperatures. (since the gas can't take on more electrons due to it's high energy state).

You really need to cut down your models. Your large hex plasma engine is 77600 Triangles .While the stock LV-T30 is about 3000 triangles.

Planetes Corporation is currently on hold, as I'm working on a different, albeit engine-related project with someone else from the forum. I can't really say more than that, sorry. Don't worry, we'll get back to this project when the other one has had it's alpha release.

But since I'm a nice person, here's a teaser:

Note that this is no way final, just proof that I haven't forgotten this project. Requires Kethane, module manager and whichever plugin is used for the B9 sabre engines(if you have the B9 mod installed it should work). The drill however does NOT work yet, it's only animated.
