UNCONVENTIONAL LAUNCHER DESIGNS- Post yours here!

Recommended Posts

Alright, so after a great many hours spend playing KSP, I've come up with some pretty weird designs.

I was interested what the forums had come up with.

There's only one requirement- share an explanation of whatever you post. That's it.

My example-

"The Pendulum"

The bottom tanks and outermost engines drop off, leaving the tail covered in canards. This gives it freaking AWESOME maneuverability in the atmosphere. This particular payload has like 30 probe cores on board which give it lots of torque in orbit too!

Here it is circularizing, showing the staging. It's ridiculously stable.

Engine clusters. 10 mainsail engines per cluster, with 8 clusters.

Partial fuel tank loadout for a test.

Full fuel tank loadout for most recent test.

Turns agonizingly slowly as expected.

Hauling arse!

1 frame per second during launch. From initial burn to out of fuel takes about one hour and fifteen minutes real time.

#EDIT: Dang it. Only now do I notice I misspelled "Absurdity".

That's just... wow.

Does it serve any practical purpose? Also... I'm surprised your computer didn't melt.

Hehe. No other practical purpose than engineering practice and my mild amusement. I've been playing about a week so far. Gotta ensure my strut placement chops are up to snuff.

Sneak preview on the current project, still in the early stages of construction:

Yes, that's going to be a rover.
