Maybe he's British? They're still a bit sour over it.

That's the one. Although it was more a war between Britain and France (whom we cannot resist war with, classically speaking), the USA still understandably celebrates the outcome.

Yup... France joined because they were still mad about loosing Canada, and they were getting into some revolutionary moods. For the French, it just ended in monetary loss. America couldn't take overtake British forces in Canada, and the whole mess convinced the French masses that a revolution there would be a good idea.

Even if the war didn't happen, America would have probably gained self rule through legislation, just like Canada. Nobody in America wanted a war, and most people still considered themselves British after the war.

I dislike that a war had to have started in the first place, but even more than that, I hate how the two nations and their allies could not resolve their petty arguments after. The War of 1812 could have been prevented.

Who knows, if the Empire had been a little less tax-y and exploitative, maybe we'd all be living under one world rule by now. Because let's be honest, much like the Roman empire before it, it did bring genuine standard-of-life benefits to a lot of places (when not enslaving or enforcing foreign laws).
