How tall would a kerbal be in real-life?

I've been wondering this for quite some time now and I'm just wondering how tall a kerbal be in real-life both with the suit on and without the suit on. This could get interesting.

Here's a way to determine the answer....

Go to the VAB. Select a probe core of known diameter, and hit W to tip it up on edge, and lower it to ground level. Then wait for one of the Kerbal rocketsmiths* to wander by. Move the part so the Kerbal walks right through it and eyeball where the top of his head come out relative to the part's diameter. I've done this but I'm not into spoilers so I leave this as an extra-credit exercise for the interested student :).

* Kerbals don't have scientists and engineers, they have alchemists and smiths, respectively.

That sound you just heard was the sound of a thousand hearts breaking, a thousand dashed dreams...

You can grow your own kerbals if you know how: Create KNO3 + Sugar balls and plant them on your garden, water them constantly and add a LOX/LH2 mix as fertilizer. In a couple of weeks you should have a trio of fully grown up Kerbals. :P

*Sigh... I wish it was true. :(

I read on the Ksp Wiki that Kerbals are .7 meters tall.

That sounds right. They are 1m tall with suite.

In fact the whole game was re-scaled around 1m tall Kerbals in .16. Since when EVA was being done, they found out that the physics didn't handle objects so well if they are under a meter. "Insect physics" i think Harv called it. So everything was made larger, such that the 1m parts are actually wider than 1m.
