Atmospheric Military Jets (Ferram Aerospace Research)

Recommended Posts

Post your atmospheric Military Jets here with a craft file and I'll rate them by the following with a screen shot of each craft and download file:

Take-Off Speed:

Top Speed @ Sea-level:

Top-Speed @ 5000ft:

Roll Rate: x seconds for 360 degree roll

Pitch Rate: x seconds for 1 loop

Weight w/o payload: x tonnes

Weight fully loaded: x tonnes

Controlability: Uncontrolable/Controlable

Controlability at landing speed (60m/s - 100m/s): Uncontrolable/Controlable

Accuracy: Bombs/Rockets travel in a relatively straight line / Bombs/Rockets do not travel in a straight line

How these are rated

Take-Off Speed will be rated by the speed when the wheels lift off the ground.

Top-Speed will be rated by flying straight and level at given altitude with full throttle.

Roll Rate will be rated by how quickly it can roll 360 degrees, averaged from 5 measurements with my stop watch.

Pitch Rate will be rated by how quickly it can loop at max speed, averaged from 5 measurements with my stop watch.

Weight calculated from strapping MechJeb on the side of the aircraft loaded and unloaded.

Controlability rated by how well the aircraft can turn on a certain axis without input from another axis to stabilise. For example, if you pitch up and the aircraft violently rolls left/right requiring aileron input to balance it, the aircraft will be uncontrolable.

Accuracy will be rated by how the rockets or bombs travel.

Conditions:

Must have payload/armament it can deliver

Take-off at below 100m/s

Able to get off the runway (ideal)

Stock parts, with Ferram Aerospace Research mod installed.

Lazor system installed for easier flight speed measurements.

Aircraft:

Single Engine

None

Dual Engine

Bomber Mk II (Made by Seanerator)

Take-Off Speed (loaded): ~90m/s

Top Speed @ Sea-level armed / unarmed: ~270 m/s / 182 m/s

Top-Speed @ 5000ft armed / unarmed: ~302 m/s / 260 m/s

Roll Rate: 9.5 seconds for 360 degree roll

Pitch Rate:11.7 seconds for 1 loop

Weight w/o payload: 15.47 tonnes

Weight fully loaded: 19.67 tonnes

Controlability: Controlable

Controlability at landing speed (60m/s - 100m/s): Controlable

Accuracy: Bombs/Rockets travel in a relatively straight line

Payload: 1.16 tonne bomb, 515 kilogram rockets

Multi Engine (3+)

None

Once aircraft are submitted I will download them, test them, then edit this post with them in it. I look forward to trying your aircraft.

I actually quite like the designs of your two aircraft, especially the bomber. Unfortunately though, the F/A-1 is difficult and really touchy to fly in Ferram Aerospace Research but the Bomber I'll get around to rating tomorrow, it's 11:46PM where I am.

I'll have a shot at the F/A-1 though, and if you allow me to I'll remove the forward canards to bring lift back behind the Center of Mass (to try stabilize it)

Well, the F/A 1 isn't the most stable jet without Ferran neither, but it's flyable :P You can try removing the canards if you want, but it won't handle as good as it does with them on...
