What's everyone getting so excited about this time around? Sure, the astronaut complex, KSC and mun overhaul are pretty neat, but it's mostly just underlying systems for career mode further down the line, isn't it?

Am I missing something?

I know right. It's not like the update that suddenly added other planets, or the one that added jet parts, or the one that added kerbals, or docking!!

From what i've read of this update it's mostly just preparation for future stuff. Yeah we'll get an astronaut center, but nothing in terms of gameplay was mentioned. I very much doubt there'll be any functionality besides renaming kerbals. New KSC is cool but just static scenery on 1 part of the solar system.

I mean, past updates have been more "shock and awe" than this. (that's a compliment to the devs, not a complaint about this update)

So yeah i also don't see what everyone is getting ahmaguditsgonnachangeeverything excited about.

I'm go an say there releasing 0.21 on a Thursday because

A. Minecraft updates Thursday

B. A lot of ksp updates were in Thursday

C. A lot of other games update on Thursday

D. The. Internet seems to update Thursday

The only vibe I am getting is maybe .21 will be ready for the end of the Steam Summer Sale... maybe. I am of course completely assuming KSP will have a discount during the period and it coincides with the influx of new people who get to start with .21. The sale is maybe starting in the next week and goes for a couple of weeks at most. So I guess I am being a pessimist and saying about 12-15 days away with a hope to be proven totally wrong???

But... there's a solar flare coming. I call it KSP-0.21.

It will destroy all spacecraft, and it will destroy the KSC.

(aka your save will not be compatible. your crafts maybe, your persistence.sfs definitely, but not the save itself. The destruction of KSC makes room for renovations. )

Hehe, calm down! The 0.21 update is currently in QA, after that is has to go through experimentals before it's released

I can't wait for the experimentals phase to start and for the developers squeeze out every little bug we can find so the release is as good as it can be

define end of July / start of August, that could be an entire month if your definition of start of July/end of August is +/- 15 days.

Looks like a decent update. I'm not that hyped over the new ASAS-system (although its a good thing ... !!) because I've never had any serious problems with out-of-control-ASAS. Might be due to the fact I've never build complex and long ships. Gotta say the visual overhaul of the KSC and the Mun looks pretty good.
