When updating AMD video drivers, is it supposed to shut off the monitor?

When updating at the part where it was installing, suddenly my screen goes to sleep and then to black. When rebooting the monitor, it said that no signal was received from the tower. Is this supposed to happen?

yup, happends to everyone. I don't think you have to turn off your screen, it's not going to damage something from your screen/computer

To update your video drivers, the video card needs to be turned off. It's just like how your computer needs to be restarted when you get a new windows update.
