There has got to be a better way to attach rovers...

Has anybody else run into the phantom duplication thing where, once you've patched some rover you've rebuilt three times because you forgot to make the part that would have the free attachment point the root part into the new lander you've just built, you attach it to a docking port or something and then hit "launch" to see how things will look and the rover is ten meters away rotated at an odd angle because KSP screwed up and actually attached two rovers in the same location which completely messed up your save file?

I need to remember to make backups before I patch in rovers.

when I connect a External item onto my rocket or lander, like the rover then I use a decapiel, and then use struts to make sure it does move around.

and then I use the tools to make sure that the weight is even, as the last thing I would want is the rocket to take off and then full over.

Two rovers in the same location sounds like the symmetry over symmetry bug.

Is that the one where you copy a part and it somehow inherits the symmetry it previously had? I've had that building launch vehicles, so frustrating... It's nice to know it's not just me being stupid.

Yeah, that bug has been known for a while but is insanely hard to track down. No one has yet to find the root of it, the devs would need a really easy and repeatable way to do it, with the less parts possible.

Well, I reported the 3rd most simple case I could, complete with step by step video. http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/37397-Symmetry-Problem

This bug is a game killer!

If anyone has other examples of how best to replicate this bug, no mods and ideally a short video, then please post them.
