Bill, Jeb, And Bob Have Orange Suits, Not White.

Recommended Posts

It's been mentioned multiple times before; Bill Jeb and Bob are known for their uniquely orange-coloured spacesuits, but they do not have the models while on EVA. I mean, I know it's not a priority because it's simply aesthetic but it doesn't seem like something that would be particularly difficult or time consuming to implement. The reason I say this is because its only a colour change and not a model change, also they have it while in IVA and in their portraits while in flight. So, is there any ETA or even any official word at all of whether/when this will be implemented?

Thanks for reading,

Happy Flying!

NOTE: I say it seems "easy to implement" this feature but I have absolutely ZERO knowledge of coding and generally suck with computers so I apologize for ignorance.

I think because those guys are the first three Kerbals created when the game was launched. And back then, they had Orange suits. It also means they're Senior astronauts (like Shepard with his N7 uniform of the Mass Effect series).

That explains why all others have White suits.

What he means is that Jeb, Bill, and Bob should have orange suits all the time, even on EVA.

Uhhh... thanks? I already know this. My question was: "Why do the three original Kerbals not bear their orange suits during spacewalks (EVA)"

Also, I was around when Bill Jeb and Bob were the only three so I know what you mean by "Senior Astronauts" :D

I don't think it is an oversight that their suits are white. It's probably for the same reason as in real life - to reflect sunlight and reduce heat buildup. I kind of like that they are all white on EVA, but I would welcome some sort of way to distinguish veterans from rookies, pilots from mission specialists, etc.

EDIT: maybe their helmet color could vary instead. From red stripes to blue and green etc. That would look cooler and more subtle, I think.

They don't use the same space suits in IVA and EVA. Even on the rockies, their IVA suits are bluish while their space suits during EVA are still white. Having different colours on their helmets would be cool.

I agree, something small could be done to the suits to make them recognisable. Stripes of some sort perhaps.
