Docking

It may be because I'm new, but successfully docking two space crafts is the most exciting thing I've done in a "video game", if that is what you call this :D

I just successfully docked for only the second time, but in a fraction of the time from the first. This was due to the understanding of gaining speed with lower orbits and reducing speed in upper orbits, but mostly due to pebblegardens incredibly detailed tutorials.

Just an excited Kerbal space explorer ;)

Today I docked in an unorthodox way; I sent up a three-man ship with two "RCS pods" attached - a lander can at the core. I could have, on retrospect, improved the design. I decoupled with the ship, backed off, then did the same with the other pod. Then, after much messing around with the controls, I managed to dock them together, then dock both back to the main spacecraft. It was my first (and only) docking.

protip: slow and steady win the race

the slower your approach; the easier it is.

(i usually slow to ~0.3m/s when they are less than 100m apart)

Definitely!

I use the 100x my speed compared to distance method: 2.0km ~20m/s, 1.0km ~10m/s, etc. This seems to workout pretty well for me, so far.

Good for you! Just wait until it becomes routine. :D Actually it's still pretty satisfying when it becomes routine, you just tend to slam stuff together at higher speeds because why not.

now try to dock with a navball which doesnt align with the port

it's a lot harder.

Eh, just eyeball it, easy. Unless your navball doesn't align with your ship, in which case I should ask how you even managed to rendezvous.

Well done! Took me ages to dock, I couldn't get things straight on, and then I didn't realise that the magnets would do the last bit for me, and kept moving, trying to get the two ports to line up exactly.

But it gets faster each time.

Congratulations. Yesterday it finally clicked for me and it's now as easy as pie. I can finally start work on my Minmus space station.

I would add a pick but I can't see a way without a imgur or the like.
