KSP crashes when debris his Minmus on sub-orbital approach

Hi all,

Currently attempting my first landing on Minmus. Everything is going smoothly and I am on a smooth sub orbital approach and approximately 3.5km from the surface. At this point, the debris of my previous stage hits the surface and the game crashes. I have tried a few different approach velocities and angles yet the outcome is always the same.

Any knowledge as to why this is happening and how to prevent the game crashing would be greatly appreciated!

Try reducing graphic settings.

If you just want to save your mission, rush to the space center, delete the debris, go back to your vessel and continue mission.
