Quick save duration

How long does a quick-save last? Can I quit KSP and come back and load a past quick-save, or is the memory cleared (so to speak) every time I exit the game?

Quicksaves are only deleted/overwritten when you quicksave again, so they can theoretically last forever. (DYAC, I want to type what I want to type)

As far as I know, the quicksave is permanent. It is stored on the same folder as the persistent save, "saves\(username)\quicksave.sfs"

Cool, thanks. I didn't want to have to test it myself because I'm in a tricky situation and losing the quicksave prematurely would have been bad.

If I am about to do something risky, I go into my files and copy paste the quicksave, if all goes well you can delete it, but just rename it to quicksave.whatever and hold f9 and your back before your failure.

Yep, I do the same thing. Considering the save files can get rather large, maybe I should think about deleting them.

Or just make an new folder and copy the files into it, this is most to get an rollback if you do something who is both risky and takes time. On an difficult landing you might want to save both in circular orbit and just before hitting the atmosphere.

However at least with the versions before 0.21 quicksaves was overwritten on launchpad. This might have changed because of the new revert function
