or the B9's S2 Crew cabin too light?

----

i know hitchiker is a 4-man cabin while the S2 is for 2 only and the hitchiker has an IVA view

but there is a 11fold mass difference (4.5 vs 0.4)

one of the two has an OP parameter.

Neither. You're comparing a pressurized habitation module containing heavy life support systems and a bunch of heavy supplies with a plane cabin built to be light and containing much lighter life support systems meant to be used in an atmosphere.

I've got a feeling that the Hitchhiker is going to include life support to keep kerbals alive for long periods in future versions. Which may account for why they set the mass so high.

Just a hunch, I have zero evidence to back this up.....but it's on the internet now, so it must be fact.

That sounds quit possible...!

Looking around at the pictures and whatnot from people I would say a good number of us already use them for that reason (even though we don't need to) so why not?

The Hitchhiker weighs the same as the 2-man lander-can (That being 2.5t)

Two kerbals for the price of one.

I can't see how that is too heavy.

Yeah. I used it for my Rover/Lander 2, and it helped with the weight big time. Some people actually use those things for lightweight base structures, for easy transport to Duna or whatever.

Could this be moved to suggestions please?

I for one can't believe there isn't a 1-man hitchhiker container (with a flat shape not the command module)

It belongs here as far as I know. OP's request was to inquire onto why the Hitchhiker is so heavy. I could probably move this to the gameplay questions forum, but it seems like this is already answered. If you want a one man Hitchhiker, feel free to head to the development forums yourself and propose it :)

That's what I use them for. Sending 3 guys to Duna in just a Mk1-2 is cruel.

The lander can also gives you control of the craft and has flywheels

I suppose those systems weighing 2 kerbals is not that far fetched.

I propose to use the unit ´kerbal´ for all masses. They seem to be standardized concerning that pretty accurately.
