Strengthening Docking ports...

Recommended Posts

I've just started being able to build Space Stations thanks to MechJeb. I could never meet up and Dock until I found it! So I've started constructing the station in modules. Each Module is connected through Docking clamps. It's grown to be pretty long and now it's extremely bendy and seems like it's going to snap. Any way to strengthen the connections to make it less bendy?

You could use Quantum Struts around the docking port. Four of them in a ring around one of the docking ports works wonders.

Also, are you on KSP 0.21 yet? SAS has been getting some serious rework and shouldn't break stations apart anymore. Or at least that's the theory :)

Your link does not work, but an updated version of Docking struts is available as part of this mod:

http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/attachment-pack/

I have been using them in .21.1 with no problems so far.

Actually the link DOES work, the spaceport page for that one is broken, probably why it doesn't come up in search. If you click the link (the only thing on the page, basically) you get a direct download of the working version of the docking strut.

And yes, it still works in 0.21, amazingly enough.

Thanks guys. I've installed Quantum Struts since that's what alot of the people I've been watching use. I haven't had a chance to build any big space stations using them yet though. I do tend to use the Clamp-o-tron Sr. Docking Port for docking Station Modules and then the Clamp-O-Tron Docking Port or Shielded Docking Port for Docking Ships to the Stations.

And yes I have the latest version of KSP.
