KSP Mun Docking Help!

Recommended Posts

so today while playing KSP i made a little mun base with a docking port on the top as seen here

i decided to dock a beacon on top of the base so i made this

B9FBC754F2DD52A0842D85E7C8CD276F3F07AF2B

as u can see theres a docking port on the bottom and RCS to fly on top of the mun base.ive land on the base like five times now but they refuse to dock, ive tried turning off RCS and SAS but that dosnt work. my therory is that the left over decoupler on top of the base is blocking the two from docking. is this true? what can i try to make the 2 dock.

also heres a cool pic i took for fun:)

Moved this over to gameplay questions :)

But yeah, you sorta guessed right, the problem is that the decoupler is still attached to the dockingport on the lander. Try switching over to the lander and right clicking the dockingport, it should have the "decouple" or "undock" option,do that and the decoupler should detach from the rest of the lander.

Your problem was that your decoupler was wrong. The little red arrow is where the decoupler detaches from, and it stays attached to the side without the arrow, typically the bottom. The decoupler (and arrow) can be rotated with the WASD keys. If you want to decouple from both sides then use a stack separator, but it leaves debris.
