I'd like this to be in the game but only after R&D and career mode are added. It would make a nice end game fuel, more advanced even than fusion rockets.

However it would be too op for the game in its current state.

If antimatter is implemented, it should be after career mode, and be extremely hard to obtain.

For the record: Antimatter is not sci-fi. It's actively being used already, just not in space travel. PET scanners use a positron-emitting radionuclide, the positrons annihilate with electrons, and the resulting gamma ray pair is picked up by the scanner.

Lasers can produce Antimatter in considerable quantities in the form of Positrons (and Electrons).

depends on what you call "considerable". If you consider a few positrons considerable quantities, then yes.

If you talk antimatter drives though you're talking metric tons of the stuff.

And if you need to create all that using current technology, and contain it long enough to be useful, the energy needed is better used for other things like solar sails.

Actually, for spaceship propulsion, you need grams, not tons of antimatter. You'll need tons to fly to other stars, not for interplanetary.
