Then come one, come all, to try to make the worlds fastest aircraft

Rules

1. Only C7 Flight Pack, Silisko Edition, Stock, KW Challenger and Novapunch pack parts allowed.

2. All record attempts have to be made over the KSP Launch Site.

3. All record attempts MUST be below 1,000 metres.

4. There must be 3 pictures or a video included to get on the leaderboard. These are...

Two of two different passes(highest speed if possible)

and one of landing.

5. NO STEALING ANYONE\'s DESIGNS

The speed will be the average of the two passes.

Well, well; here\'s my Trimotor Baby.

1st pass: 268.3

2nd pass: 276.8 (yeah, this baby eats fuel like crazy! I\'ve wanted to waste its last fuel tank before 2nd pass to make the plane lighter -- but I\'ve needed some fuel for landing).

1st pass -- 301.7 (yeah, it overheats. Note two winglets on the side nacelles -- they\'re cooling the engines down).

2nd one -- 319.5.

thanks ). Try to get more from this baby, that would be interesting. For example, find some way to prevent engines from overheating... without overweighting the plane.

Hope GroundHOG2010 will update my leaderboard record to 310.6

OK So here it is Seeker X1.

i was looking at the rules and there was nothing said about Drop tanks. so i have exploited this loop hole

i present to you

471 M/s it can do 500 just before it runs out of gas but i can never get a screenshot (i have 1 second and i always press at the wrong moment)

The Drop Tanks Are armed with parachutes so that in the case that they survive the Initial Drop. they do have a chance of survival

New aircraft

The Valiance

Top speed i got was 560m/s but sadly it drops suddenly because of the lack of fuel.

these Photos are not of one launch but a series of separate launches.

First couple of runs with the Snark III:

Best run - 704.1 m/s @ 520m altitude passing over launch area.

Second run (had a better one but screenshot only caught coast): 641.2 m/s @ 572m altitude passing end of runway.

Errr... a question to topicstarter (maybe a bit tardy): does both passes and landing have to be shown in a single flight? And does the plane have to land in just one piece, or it may lose some, well, lesser important details?

Omnivore what parts are you using? Double the speed of sound at 730m sounds suspicious.

First let me say I resent the implication.

However, in the interests of peace, harmony, and the enlightenment of the unenlightened... the design uses Silisko Edition and C7 parts only.

Oh, by the way, it is a very stable glider and can make multiple high speed passes as well as land in each run.

Yeah sorry, I\'m just a little weirded out because I finding it difficult to beat 450m/s even with 3 KW Super 6 engines.

I\'ll stop asking people for craft files now, I\'m convinced anything is possible at this point.

That NovaSilisko\'s Large Bertha can do even more. 703/767.5 in a single flight.
