Deep Space Travel - Or at least Duna

Recommended Posts

Hi I have been trying for some time now to get something outside of kerbin orbit. It seams every time I get into orbit with the sun i loose all engines and RCS.

I have fuel and electricity.

The first attempt was unmanned when this happened to that mission I thought maby it got out of range.

Second attempt had a 3 man crew ending in the same result.

I am using rockomax engines and tanks. (Can post a photo of the rocket if needed)

Is there something im doing wrong, or is there a bug with deep space travel?

How do you 'lose' them? Does your craft simply become unresponsive? Can you still turn your ship with pod/probe torque?

I have fuel and electricity.

Do you have fuel lines where necessary? Do you have batteries and power sources?

The first attempt was unmanned when this happened to that mission I thought maby it got out of range.

Unless you've installed a mod like RemoteTech or similar there is no 'out of range'

Photos of the ship with 'lost engines and rcs' would be helpful (that is after it has happened). Also a further explanation of what exactly the problem is, as I questioned above.

Is there something im doing wrong, or is there a bug with deep space travel?

There's no broad sweeping general bug such as "deep space travel doesn't work". I've sent both probes and manned ships to nearly all planets (and several moons) and have yet to run into a similar issue you're describing. So you're either doing something wrong or there's something happening that you're not aware of.

Pictures and additional information would be required for further diagnosis.

Well I left the game on in 1x during my time joining the forms and posting the question. When I tabbed back to take some screenshots all was well. I don't get it but I'm glad its fixed.

Thanks for your time. Sorry to waste it as well.

Are you on .20.2 or .21.1? I only ask because in .20.2 I had an issue where sometimes my ships would for no reason be disabled, they act exactly like they would when there was no electricity despite having a charge. Usually going to space cent and back to the ship fixed it, sometimes just waiting a minute or two fixed it as well.

This happens to me too! Sometimes I can just pause and unpause the game to fix it, other times I have to go back to space center.

Indeed, if you are time warped above 1X, but not much higher, you can set up maneuvers but your rocket won't respond to any commands until you have returned time to 1X. It has happened to all of us at one time or another. Sometimes clicking directly on the time warp counter in the far left will reset it back to 1X
