Rockomax Mainsail and Poodle art pass, and new Rockomax "Twins" Engine (W/ Pictures)

The Mainsail has not been changed visually since it's release in 0.16, and it kinda looks bad compared to other engines. My design makes it a sort of combination of the SSME and F-1 Engines. The Poodle also has only had a texture pass, which is good, but I think it should look more like what many people use it for-a Service propulsion Engine for a C/SM. Of course these engines would stay the same size so craft wouldn't break.

Then, sometimes you just don't have enough TWR for stages with a Skipper, but too much and too inefficent work for a mainsail. So a Twin-Engine could bridge the gap, which is ironically what the Skipper already did. It would have 1.7 or so times the thrust of the Skipper, in Twin-Engine form. In addition to bridging the gap between the Mainsail and Skipper, It could also serve an aesthetic purpose of being the only stock Twin Engine.

I support this suggestion wholeheartedly. You really did a nice job on the drawing, most people wouldn't have taken the trouble to do that. I really hope that this will be implemented. I think the "Twin" engine should have a thrust of 1000 kN (and maybe the nozzles should be a bit longer).

The twin engine would be fantastic, occupies the niche that the skipper on the majority of my rockets just doesn't fit. Just one question, would it (when stack mounted), take up the space of one engine, or would I have to have a duel adapter to attach it to the rest of the rocket, as is the case with using multiple engines on one tank now?

What would the advantage of the double variant have over a bicoupled LV-T45s, or bicoupled LV-T30s? When would you need such a niche of 1105 thrust?

A bicoupled LV-T30 or LV-T45 would only give you 400-430 thrust. This would be the equivalent of strapping two skippers together to get around 1300 thrust (probably a bit lower given balancing), no?

I Agree that poodle (It could be resemble more other vacuum-only nozzle skirt, like used in Apollo service module or some upper stages) or large radial engine would benefit from art pass.

Also I would like to suggest (at least partially) abandoning using engines anchor base (place where engine touch the tank) in same diameter like a tank, they could be often attached at smaller base than nozzle diameter, only some pipe, engine anchor joint and animated gimbal acutator (engine nozzle move like control surfaces when applying control input).

This approach would look more plausible (+ more ascetically pleasing) and engines parts of same nozzle diameter would take less space (look at poodle, where engine base is much larger from engine itself), allowing for more freedom in engine attachment and could made clustering/space-planes way easier :).

EDIT_1:

I think that twin engine, could be better supplemented by clustering 2 smaller ones, because You could use free space around them for attaching structural supports like strut connectors or interstage small RCS tanks or batteries.

For example, if skipper engine would not fill at the base entire diameter of the 2.5m tank, we would put struts between stages around the engine.

EDIT_2:

Also if engine base doesn't depend entirely from tank diameter, we would had some smaller or intermediate rocket engine parts, allowing for putting large 0.5 meter engines on larger craft if stronger thrust is won't needed, or use multiple smaller ones to acquire needed thrust without slapping bigger engine.
