Big Projects..

Hello there guys! I started this thread just to let everyone share with me what ' big project ' he is working on :D . I didn't want to post this in ' Show off your awesome pictures ' because everything will be missed out  . anyway, i'll start this up!

My big space station orbiting the mun ( 95x100 km ) started from space station core and now it's the biggest one in 0.21 ( apart for kerbin's one, but that's missed up, I don't have everything lined up like this :sticktongue:. )

It's called Station of Glory ( S.O.G ). still working on it

Don't have pics at the moment, but I am currently working on analogs of Saturn designs I through V, as well as undeveloped Saturns like the C-3 (Eart orbit rendezvous), C-4 (Saturn V "lite") and the C-8 (eight F-1 engined direct moon shot.)

Also working on variants like the INT-20 and INT-21.

For space stations, I have a recreation of Space Station Freedom in the works, the old "dual-keel" design from the 1980s that preceded the current ISS layout.

I am currently starting up an Ike base and station. So far, I have the station around Ike:

Transports carrying various things will be heading to Ike to set up the mining and habitation bases.

I thought I had a big space station in orbit, until I took my spaceplane up to dock with it and found the plane's almost as big as the station... made docking very difficult, shall we say. (Still learning how to use the radial clampotron, for that matter.) I'll have to think bigger and build a better station; besides, half the docking ports on the thing are installed backwards because of my n00bie mistake. :(

Even though it would be less technically complicated to aim for Duna, Dres or Eeloo missions, my successful mission to Gilly as well as my one to 4 of the 5 Joolian moons only inspires me to think my next objective will be a return landing to Eve.

Lots of images to commence...

dm_prep2.jpg

Kerbin near-space is in a flurry of activity lately, in preparation for a comprehensive Duna mission.

dm_prep3.jpg

A Mun base currently prepares to relocate, refueled by the fuel tanker seen behind it here. The current Kethane deposit is nearly empty, and a new one will be necessary within a single mining session.

dm_prep4.jpg

The current site is also gradually preparing for its departure to the orbital fuel station, from which it will refuel, select a new site, and land.

dm_prep5.jpg

Said orbital station is in a constant state of fuel flux, mostly because almost all fuel that goes into it goes back to the stations around Kerbin normally.

dm_prep6.jpg

Though not as much lately, since both Stationary Station (above) and the LKO Fuel Station are now full. No small feat for the latter, as you'll soon see.

dm_prep7.jpg

The LKO Fuel Station awaits the return of key crew from the Mun for a return trip to Kerbin in the attached escape pod.

dm_prep9.jpg

Said crew is on their way. They will make up the core of the coming Duna mission.

dm_prep8.jpg

Meanwhile, the drained fuel ferry makes its way back to the Mun for a refill and to wait for the next time it needs to head back to Kerbin orbit to refuel the stations there.

dm_prep12.jpg

The Duna mission itself is set to use the Kethane-converted fuel from the LKO station to get itself ready for the long journey, reducing the non-payload mass considerably for the mission. In 55-odd days, the mission is go. Preparations for it are technically already complete, well ahead of schedule. Interesting times for those Kerbals, these are...

I landed this on Duna, Phew!! was hard to achieve this one, because I landed on the mount Olympus analog ( it's 6850m high, where I landed ) :sticktongue:!

used the load feature about 8 times! but here it is! also I sent a base module like this to laythe, with manned rover, 2 airplanes and one unmanned rover! yay! this game rocks!

Keep the photos rolling everyone! let's make this topic blow up!

I think my laptop just had a meltdown merely looking at that ship...

That's just the part that goes in space. The rocket that took it there... well. Yeah.

The Mk2 is going to be less dense. Airy looking, even. Spidery.

Awesome stuff-- here's what i've got for now, and really, the biggest project for me now and has the highest priority is laythe base - some pictures->

my Habitat Module during Re-entry

YgXI7jo.jpg

After touch down, Rodan Kerman- the commander checked if everything is fine.

ZSPOeZk.jpg

my un-manned rover got it's wheel damaged, I sent a kerbal from the habitat module all the way up to the mountain and fixed the wheel. he saw this and was impressed! NOTE**: the purple label is a command module laying there.. previous tries reaching laythe..

MF56CEH.png

After they landed the habitat module on laythe, Rodan opened the window by mistake, but he discovered that laythe has oxygen! he sent data back to kerbin, and Mission Control decided to send an aircraft to laythe. ( anyone got a special name for this aircraft? I didn't find any that good. )

wP9t5ki.jpg

During Re-entry ( after entering the atmosphere but at a lower altitude, I got the super sonic effects, which is kinda impressing. the plane handles very well and won't stall by anyway!

rT2XEII.png

A moment after I planted two flags on two islands on laythe, which took me alot of fuel to. then I decided to check up the north pole of laythe, because in space I saw that it's kinda ' sandy ' and not true white colour.

I found out that it's grey-ish and very cold..

BONUS PICTURE :

Here my kind of space station around Pol , took me 4 launches to assemble this in Pol's orbit. one of the landers is departing to make a research on Pol's surface, they found out that the rocks are ' Poop shaped '. they said it's the krakin's poop.

I don't even know what I'm looking at.

Bottom section is the atomic transplanetary drive. Above that is the lander / escape subsystem. There are eight rovers bolted to the outside that drop on site. The lander itself consists of an escape module pack bolted together. When it's time for the crew to come home, there are four separate return vehicles that shear off from the lander and get into orbit, where the transplanetary drive waits. They dock on for the fuel efficient ride home.

That's just the actual ship. The boosters and such were added later. I'll see if I can find a picture.

Planning a manned mission to explore Ike and Duna and maybe add a base using an actual ship. I tried to make it modular, and below 300 on the part count. It's currently at 170 parts, but it doesn't have any rovers or landers yet, and it's still got the ascent engines attached.
