What so you think is going to be in the .22 update?

Titan Space Agency

What do you think is in the next update?

  1. 1. What do you think is in the next update?

    • Resource mining.
    • Mony and other campain system stuff.
    • Just an update with more parts.
    • Part rebalencing
    • Female kerbals
    • Biger part sizes (3meter)
    • Better aerodynamics
    • Deadly reentry
    • Observatory
    • None of the above (post ideas below)

I think of the kerbals like minions from Despicable Me. Just little, asexual, cute gremlins. My girlfriend thinks they're adorable and actually likes playing the game because of them and also because the game lets you do a lot of neat things and the visuals are impressive.

They don't have to have girl names to appeal to girls. It's a moot point. Girls would be more important if we were supposed to see ourselves as the Kerbals. I see myself as their protector/mission controller. If they call them Jessifer and Barbriana Kerman it doesn't matter to me.

Difference is that unlike Despicable Me minions or gremlins, kerbals are very clearly gendered. Certainly can't hurt any to include some female ones as well, for the reasons GusTurbo said..

Whilst I don't agree with the silly sexist on the other page, I do think squad said there wouldn't be "female" (if that's indeed what kerbals have) kerbals in the game for various reasons. I could be wrong.

They could reproduce! Imagine a world in which Kerbals are created outside the Rockomax Labs! :0.0:

People let's please stay on topic. The male/female Kerbal debate is an old one and reiterating it here won't change the output. So let's please drop this subject before the conversation sinks down to another pointless arguments that just gets everyone on their nerves, alright?

Ok. :)

I'm interested in the new building functionality they were talking, but again: ERMAGERD TECH TREE!!1!

I didn't really expect such an awesome update, fresh minds come with new ideas. :)

Well, we have confirmed that there will be a tech tree system (more career mode work). We also have semi-confirmed reports that there will be a stock subassembly system and that KSP will be updating to Unity 4.2. I personally have not confirmed the reports of the latter two. If anyone has, please share.

Not gonna lie, most of those items seem unlikely to be in the next patch for KSP. Aerodynamics will probably come when they remake all the spaceplane parts, which most likely isn't going to be anytime soon.

Resources and mining could be in, though...then again, that'd require a bunch of effort into new parts and some underlying mechanics. I figure mining, aerodynamics and the observatory would all have to be their own patches due to the amount of effort that'd be necessary to get them going.

Of course, it would surely be fantastic if they managed to get one of them into the next patch. My personal hope for that unlikely outcome would be mining 'cause I don't have all that much interest in aerodynamic stuff...though that could change if they came out with new parts and mechanics. Hmm~

I hope once career mode has been rolled out, science and exploration will be a more important aspect of the game.

Moar science parts and science missions (a la Take on Mars) and satellite cameras! I want to see what the Krussians from KSC 2 are up to... Probably not in the next update though.

No Poll option for "Improve current incomplete features"?

Because none of the options given really portray what I'd like to see. Then again, we're talking what we expect to see, not what we want to see I suppose.

In which case I suppose more Career stuff is what we'll end up getting. But I'd really rather they just fixed the stuff they've already added.

If this game is realistic, .22 will feature small game: starlings, rabbit, and like varmints.

Aero seems unlikely to be a core priority at the moment: except for infiniglide, current aerodynamics produce a fun game that isn't too terribly broken. Those who really care install FAR.

One thing I saw in the dev blogs is a likely upgrade to the newest version of Unity. It has various advantages, particularly for linux users; it's also slightly better set up for version control, which improves development speed (at least the free version is; I'm still on a shoestring).

Other than that, frankly, I don't care. Every version is better than the previous. Thanks everyone else for downloading the .0 versions and carping about bugs so that when I get around to downloading the .1 version, it's very stable :)

Further refinement of the SAS. It already works much better than the previous one, but it could still be more "active" when installed on aircraft. It doesn't really lock the attitude after maneuvering like it's supposed to. Also, unwanted movements like the nose drop when rolling will probably be fixed.

The nose dropping upon a turning maneuver is accurate. it happens in real and model aircraft where you have to apply some nose up control to compensate.

SAS is unrealistically too strong on large ships. There is still a bug that cause shaking on the single command capsule when one uncouples for reentry.
