Mod vs. Stock Military Craft...

Seriously, the only weapon i can come up with for now is a beam with sepratrons attached to it! It fires pretty much straight as an arrow, but gravity on kerbin is serious issue for now, shooting the VAB from the runway requires something like a 30 degree or more angle to fire away! Guess i have to spend so more time engineering weapons!

i have found these to be the most effective weapons honestly unless for very long ranges. Only issue is slight reliability at extreme ranges and being not ultra effective against very heavy armor, but unless its a battleship its very likely to do above average damage given its miniscule size, then again, vs battleships you need extreme velocity coupled with high mass.

place a decoupler on the back for some decent initial velocity, make sure the missile doesnt have it attached to the back when firing or the thrusters usually get blocked.

they also can be stacked semi well, and the decoupler stuck on the front isnt an issue as it doesnt block the thrust, and makes it easier to get a near miss connect with the target.

The good old girder rocket! Main issue with those is they tend to phase straight through the target at high speeds. Perversely, it is also their main attraction for me; because you have to get nice and close allowing you to target specific areas:

Also, if you stagger the heights of the rockets you can overlap the decouplers (make sure you fire the top ones first!) and cram loads of them into a tight space:

I definitely prefer the challenge of stock parts, the mods make it all too easy.

You also much know, that I've also made cannons out of mainsails that have fired projectiles at targets up to 70000KM away in space-and have hit their targets. Stock weapons are as good and as effective as mod weapons in many cases...after all, lazors cannot stand much chance against a missile sailing toward them at 56% light speed.

Pics or GTFO....

The mun is a bit bigger than your average ship.

That may be, and I said it would be very difficult, but not impossible.

I've hit targets on the KSC runway from orbit too.

It's the same as firing any other ballistic weapon, except you need to be far more precise.

The one thing stock weapons have over mods (excusing Lazor Weapons) is sheer range - Sunbeams have a maximum range of 2.2 km, miniguns only fire as far as you can reliably aim, other mods likewise only have the 2.2 phys-load range, but probe-core equipped stock missiles go as far as their fuel allows, meaning you can shoot from a loooooong way away.

'Cept Lazor missiles, which are pretty much (intentioanlly) overpowered.

Would you like a video of me shooting the Mun from LKO?

I won't lie, it takes a few tries, but is totally doable, hitting a target in space would be very difficult, but far from impossible or anything.

It's plausible.

Go on then, but you have to do it from the same orbit as Minmus with the Mun as close to directly opposite as is possible (this is still 11000 km closer than claimed in the post I was referring to) with a dumb projectile fired from a mainsail cannon.

Edit: Also; I don't think an object large enough to have it's own gravity well counts as a legitimate military target, even if shot with the most powerful nuke in existence.

Later tonight or tomorrow, just for you.

Your edit is just snarky nonsense. :v

Something on the surface of said planet could be a legitimate military target.

Ok then, hit a pre-specified point on the mun's surface. Lets assume a blast radius of 100 km.
