Athena Spacecraft - Getting to LKO in style (Now with MOAR pictures!)

Recommended Posts

Tired of the same old X200-16 and Rockomax Poodle rocket configuration to get into orbit? Now, your kerbals can get to orbit in style and more or less comfort. A 100% stock fully capable multipurpose vehicle. With RCS to spare and fuel left over, you could probably even slap on some parachutes and make the whole thing recoverable.

Doesn't require kerbal engineer anymore!

Notes:

  • pressing 2 turns off translation, which is useful when you need fine control going prograde or retrograde.
  • To rendezvous with a ship ahead of you, lower your Periapsis a bit (maybe 3 km) and when you reach a closest approach of around 10 km, raise it for finer control. This takes quite a while, so be patient.
  • The same applies with a ship behind, except you raise your Apoapsis.

In future updates:

  • Put the fairing on a diet (it looks too chubby)
  • Improve torque (you need to be constantly adjusting) (╯°□°)╯︵ ââ€Â»Ã¢â€Âââ€Â»
  • Add more documentation, and more things to document. ââ€Â¬Ã¢â€â‚¬Ã¢â€Â¬Ã¯Â»Â¿ ︵ /(.â–¡. \)

Sorry if it's kind of lame

This is not lame, you've built a fairing from panels and have a hidden parachute. I think that's pretty awesome. Keep up the good work!

EDIT:And the layout of the RCS and power systems are far more elegant than any I've built.
