Having problems initiating launch.

Recommended Posts

I keep having the same issue. At the launch site after I throttle up and turn on my ASAS I hit space to initiate my first stage but instead of activating my first stage it just combines it with the stage above, hitting space more times just continues to combine all my stages together. Anyone else ever have this issue? How can I fix it?

Edit: Here are some images to show whats happening.

check your staging in the VAB, there should only really be engine symbols in the first(biggest number) stage. firing that should activate the stage. screenshot before you fire the rocket? (on the launchpad or VAB so we can see both the first stage and the staging symbols.)

If none of the aforementioned things helped, it's possible due to a way the craft was built that there was a catastrophic failure that you didn't notice when you loaded onto the launchpad. My first few launches were like this until I realized something was broken or losing connection with another part of the craft causing it to not activate stages in the craft.

I think I may have had similar issue(s).

I would press space and hear the ignition sound but nothing would turn on. To me it was just the build of the rocket. ie: no fuel going to the engines, pretty much.

So if there is no fuel, it just goes to the next stage.

BUT if you have stages, you must also have decouples...so to me its strange that the first stage doesnt decouple and just combines with the next one.

Definitely sounds like a build issue.

Post a screen shot of your rocket so we can see :)

Perchance do you have aerospikes on the lowest stage? Those have a tendency to break off if you don't suspend the rocket up a bit with launch clamps.

Hit F3 before you push the space bar and check to see if anything has broken off. If something has, MOAR STRUTS.
