bigdad84
This would be a good thread for a poll!
Burninate
Docking orbit is 120x130km to 125kmx125km, I don't bother tweaking circular too much on the slow-turning behemoths I build.Testing orbit is anywhere from 75x75 to 75x300, depending on how launch is. MockKnizzle
Launches go up to 75, my station is at 120. Random satellites are all over the place.
Sufficient Anonymity
For most things, I use 100km. However, I'm currently building an Orion-powered mission to Laythe, and as it's hard to tune an orbit to being less than a few kilometers (or tens of kilometers, depending on charges used), I'm using a 200km parking orbit. annallia
Because I suck at circularizing my orbits I tend to go minimum 80k AP this way I don't have to worry if my PE is a bit lower. If I were to try for just outside the atmo my PE would likely be in the atmosphere.Otherwise it is dependent on vessels. Satellites go 200k (+/- 5-10k) Stations if just a station go 90k (+/- 5k) refueling stations go minimum 500k (+/- 10k) And any orbital built ships go around 400k
Boex
69.5km for anything, unless it's going to have something dock to it, in which case, usually 80km.
badgers_in_space
For me, anywhere between 72 and 80km is an LKO. Just about far enough up to avoid the drag of the upper atmosphere, and not too high as to require substantially more fuel to reach the orbit. Lheim
I've got my station at 100; gives okay range to go above or below it to synch orbits.
JeanHavoc
I too prefer to park most things in a roughly circular 80 Km orbit above Kerbin. I end up with a lot of debris and defunct space craft there, but I will point out that I often move things from that position as well; only the most rudimentary missions go no further. Not sure how I came to choose that particular distance, but I think it had to do with it being a good 10 Km higher than Kerbin's upper atmosphere. I suppose I just like having a bit of a buffer, just in case.
spudcosmic
My parking orbits around Kerbin are usually 85 km.
Stelith61
75-80km parking orbits, 95km station.
Cby
Always 100-100km, low, yet still room beneath it so I can rendezvous.
doggie015
I usually aim for a 90km orbit. For missions beyond Kerbin I don't care if the orbit is not circular (Pe has to be above 70km) as I have no plans to stick around anyway!
Gojira
I always do a 100 km *100 km LKO unless I'm feeling impatient.
That guy who builds stuff
75 km for everything
