First remote Mun landing: why land once when you can land 8 times...

Well, I forgot to take screenshots of the launch and trip there, but I just completed my first remote landing on the Mun. And tested out a concept for later missions; the cluster lander.

Why send 1 lander when you can send 8?

Success!

It only uses RCS thrusters no engines, if I did it again I may do the opposite way around, no RCS just engines as they only just have enough propellent to land.

1 lander down, 7 more to go!

I'm going to use these mini landers to scout for a good landing site for a manned landing.

I'm hoping to use a similar approach for Duna and Eve missions, using parachuted mini landers.

I did consider small rovers, but the ones I made looked a bit unstable and as it was my first landing attempt on the Mun I went with the legs so I didn't tip them over and break the instruments off, in hindsight, I wish i'd made the first four have legs and the second four have wheels, guess the second expedition will have to be mini rovers, probably nuclear powered to the explore the dark side rather than waiting a kerbal-month for sun rise. I've landed most of them now and am really getting the hang of it, the last one I landed was on the dark side with no lights.
