Oh look, EA is learning something!

Well,DRM and DLC are both a good thing,DRM stops game from being pirated, like SimCity. DLC is very good because if something is missing in the game that we want we can still get it throught a DLC. If you don't like DLC's,then don't buy games which have them (what big game does not?). If you cannot connect to servers because you have poor conection, then don't buy the game too,it's a REQUIREMENT like a minimal graphics card and so on. Don't buy a game with DRM if you don't have a good connection.

DRM that makes customers jump through hoops is a terrible thing. You don't get to make your customers jump through hoops, becasue they're the reason your company exists, and the longer you annoy them, the more likely they'll leave you. As for good connection, remember SimCity? Remember Diablo III? Remember every game ever that had always-on DRM? They didn't fail because customers had poor connection, they failed because the developers and publishers dropped the ball and THEIR connection had a heart attack and died.

I'm going to use my favorite quote here:

"Developers, come on: You will never stop piracy. Have you ever -- ever -- even made a dent? Or are piracy levels now -- even in this age of psychotically rabid DRM -- much, much higher than they have ever been before? The solution to piracy isn't to violently **** everybody at the door, just in case they might be a pirate; it's to make the door look enticing enough and open it wide enough that all the non-pirates will flock inside."

You don't have to use Origin, I paid my money to charity, and installed Mirror's Edge thru steam and done.

Then I learned DAMN mirror's edge is HARD, don't think I'll ever get past the first chapter.

I could help you, because I've played to chapter... 3 or four I think in 2 hours or so.

EA doing a turn around maybe for once? Eh doubt this will last long.

Of course it won't last long, it's marketing. They don't lose any money because it's a digital download. They're old games, so most likely nobody that didn't already own them would have bought them outside of this offer. EA lose nothing - no product, no potential sale. But they gain the respect of a large amount of naive gamers who think EA is suddenly a nice company that respects their customers, and in turn they gain more sales on their future games.

DRM that makes customers jump through hoops is a terrible thing. You don't get to make your customers jump through hoops, becasue they're the reason your company exists, and the longer you annoy them, the more likely they'll leave you.

Unfortunately it's incredibly easy to get their customers back. Now that they've acquired the rights to make new Star Wars games, their sales will go through the roof.

Even look at the Humble Bundle. They give away some old games for free and people start to like them again.

Don't buy a game with DRM if you don't have a good connection. EA cannot buy like tens and tens of servers because what if the game will not have good sales? And they'll loose their money? .EA is very good company,if Origin would do that. It would get banned in many countries. Is it? No,and EA has kept my Credit card info safer than PSN network, and I never lost any money. Origin helps me connect to game rooms of my friends, shows me when they are online and what they are playing right now and such. And even KSP scans your PC stats and sends it to Squad. Including your IP and other stats.

Yeah no, DRM stops the customer from playing the game, like what happened with simcity or diablo 3 during their first weeks, where they just won't work. Later they fixed all that cr*p and players couldn't still play because LOL SERVER OVERLOAD. Meanwhile, pirates where enjoying their game.

About DLC, remember it started as expansion packs, and those would add loads of content and probably a totally different storyline to a game. Nowadays DLC is content cut from the original game (like the difficulty DLC for metro last light), which you have to pay to consider your game complete. The only exception to this is cosmetic DLC which is totally optional.

Internet connection is a requirement on single player games? I'm not even answering that, it's just too retarded.

Origin DOES check your files and such. It was proven but no public accusation was made, except for a few sensationalist "journalists" who wanted a quick story. Most people decided to simply not use it or drop it if they were already using it. You can just google the issue and you'll see.

KSP at least asks you if you want your IP to be hidden, and it doesn't scan your pc, it scans your hardware as part of a hardware-performance survey (which actually helps the game, not like scanning your personal photos).

But that's wrong, you idiot.

EA certainly isn't bad as people pretend, but saying DRM like SimCity's is a good idea is blatant stupidity. That game was an absolute disaster. On top of that, some people may be able to afford the game, but not internet (Which is a subscription) or DLC (Which is repeated payments.)

Not everyone makes a lot of money for stuff like that, myself included.
