Tylo Express 4-part Tutorial

Hello all,

I just finished uploading my Tylo tutorial. I used no mods other than Engineer to build the rocket and balance the Delta V.

Hopefully this can help anyone who is having trouble getting to the outer planets.

I haven't yet had a chance to watch this closely, but I was wondering about the delta-V requirements for various steps of the trip. As I've been examining various delta-V maps, I'm having a hard time getting my head around just what ARE the various segments of this mission.

I understand what is involved with getting from Kerbin to an encounter with Jool, but not what else I need to consider to get to Tylo. Do I need to consider the d-V required for Joolar orbit? Or assuming I can create an encounter with Tylo itself, can I ignore the need to orbit Jool?

If you explain all this in your video, I apologize. I do plan to pay closer attention to it when I have the time later.

I've not made it to Jool yet so take this as an uneducated guess, but I'm sure you could.. I'm just not sure you'd necessarily save any delta v by doing it. As far as I can see, most of the delta-v cost of reaching Tylo is actually going to be due to slowing down enough to avoid being flung out of its sphere of influence. By passing close over Jool, you can exploit the Oberth effect to lower that speed faster so you only leave Jool with enough energy to get to Tylo and not to fly out of Jool's sphere of influence altogether (this came up in the previous video).

You could, as I understand it from other mission reports, also theoretically save delta-v altogether by performing an aerocapture in Jool's atmosphere, although that's a bit less predictable.
