What's with the loading screens?

Is it just me or is there a loading screen on everything I click, when i would go into the tracking station it used to be instant, not a loading screen. There is a loading screen for everything and quite frankly its getting very annoying, am I the only one experiencing this?

it has been happening to me too, last anywhere from 5-10 seconds

They changed the loading in .21, it results in more loading screen because it doesn't have as much loaded at once.

I would prefer less loading screens with maybe longer loading time.

like a 30+ second on the game load..and then no loading switching from hanger etc..

as it is its very annoying..

I build something.. load it into runway (wait 15-20 seconds) find out it doesn't work.. go back to hanger (10 seconds) tweak it slightly.. and rinse and repeat.

I noticed there's even a loading screen when you click "new" when in the VAB or SPH. That's kind of annoying and needless...

I like the new loading screens. Used to, it would pause and not give any indication whether it was working or had locked up. Now, since you can see the small loading icon moving, you can tell the program is actually working.

If I remember correctly 0.21 was actually supposed to reduce load times, but because of some bug with Unity it ended up increasing them, which is part of the reason why in 0.22 they're upgrading to Unity 4.2.

Rather than just throwing you into a load screen with a stuttering icon, how about a gradual fade to black, then a fade back in? I think it'd look quite dramatic and theatrical, and really fit with the theme of the game. As long as things remain smooth, I'm not too bothered by load screens, though obviously faster is better.

Spinny-things have the very useful feature of telling a user that the game is still working rather than frozen.

id rather see something in motion from the game to tell me it hasnt locked down and needs me to either hard restart or alt-tab it back into life

It's the price you pay for the new, "smoother", "faster" graphics "improvements" of .21. That's how they get people to believe that animated Kerbal personnel and drift racers are improving the game's performance.
