Today i watched in news that's american selected new astronaut group, they would do Kerbal job on Space Launch System:D

I thought the manned space program was put on hold after the Space Shuttle?

Also, some of them look a little old, some a little young.

Half of those Astronauts are chicks. That's different from previous groups.

I knew Victor Glover from my days in the Navy. He was one of those guys that was the best at everything he did, but it never looked like he was trying very hard. Congrats to him and the others!

There are currently 47 members in the NASA Astronaut Corps, many of which have never flown. The previous selection was Astronaut Group 20 in 2009, none of which have flown in space yet (one of them is scheduled to fly to the ISS on Soyuz in September, the others have no flight assignments).

NASA has way more astronauts than available flight seats. Orion has only 2 flights scheduled in 2017 and 2021, and they usually put astronauts who have already flown in Commander and Pilot positions, which means that only 4 rookie astronauts from Group 20 and Group 21 are likely to fly on Orion before 2022.

and that's if Orion ever flies, which I seriously doubt. It's going to be cancelled and the funding diverted to some feel-good project related to "climate change" or "bringing peoples together" that buys some president or congresscritter a few votes.

Too old too young, who care. I think the most important thing is passion rather than age.

Do not forget that the youngest person who flew into space Herman Titov was almost 26 years old, and the oldest person in space, John Glenn was 77 years
