Smaller space station?

Recommended Posts

Planning to build a small space station, but what is the smaller space station I can build that can acomplish this premises?

- Have to be manned

- Need to be expandable with other modules

- Want some windows to see Kerbal from space

What can you think?

Use the PPD-1 or whatever it is called cupola module, add in some batteries (don't want it runnin out of power now do you?) Toss in a hitchhiker can + solar panels (I suggest putting the panels on the lower end of the can so you don't obstruct your view). Then under that the multi-connector port with a clamp-o-tron port added to every side of it.

Your command module has windows all over the place, your living quarters (hitchhiker can) has small windows in it that you can see kerbin from, and thanks to the multi-connector that you put on the bottom and mad into a 5 way docking node you can now expand whichever way you choose.

Crater's right; there's not really all that much that needs to be on a space station core (only things I might recommend adding are a quad of OX-STAT panels and maybe a Reaction Wheel. It really depends on what you want to do with it.

May I suggest the Salyut progamme tutorial on the wiki as a place for you to start? Even the Salyut 1 would probably do what you want. Put different sized ports on it if you like. That tutorial also has instructions on how to make a reasonably descent Mir replica.
