Habitation Modules

Recommended Posts

What about a new habitation module setup where you can select what you would like in the module, like crew, fuel, electricity, etc. There would probably be a minimum limit of crew that would absolutely have to be in the module, somewhere about 15 or 20 crew up to 50 crew maximum. Along with the crew limits, there would be limits to fuel and electricity, and with each bit of fuel or electricity added, less space there is for crew. Discussion time!!! I think this would be helpful when sending up large colonies to orbit or to another planet.

The Hitchhiker container is an early example of an habitation module in-game, with a crew capacity of four.

Monolithic hab modules with greater crew capacities would require either insanely long or insanely wide fuselages, as well as internal space for amenities to support such a high population, which would be impractical to fly into orbit. It would be more sensible to fly several small Hitchhiker-sized modules into orbit and assemble them there.

Hmm, would be interesting to see a hibernation module that must be included on long flights to avoid the insanity meter to run up on your kerbals or something. If you don't have it they end up looking disheveled or something.
