Locked Docking Ports

ok. my being Polish might be the prob, lol, but I just cant unlock my docking ports after I undock from station to redock to an orbiting refueling ship, shielded and un-shielded. When trying to dock, it refuses to attach. Says port is locked. I tried moving away a distance, turning on and off SAS, but to no avail. Switching to other orbiting ships ect. Both ships are powered up. Any suggestions for this ole Polish Astronaut?? lol

Assuming that there's no design flaw as port facing the wrong way or obstructed/clipped, it could be the infamous docking bug.

This does require that you're somewhat familiar with the persistent-sfs file, you can use Ctrl-F to find your ship/station by looking up its name, then scroll through the parts until you find dockingport or somesuch.

HOW TO FIX THE DOCKING PORT

1. Go into the persistent.sfs file

2. Search for a line which says "state = Acquire"

3. Change to "state = Ready"

4. Load up the game and dock with the port nearby.

What program do you use to open the persistence file?

the persistence file is located under saves/yoursavedgame/

Be sure to create a backup copy before you make any changes.

I personally use Editplus for my editing but notepad is just as good.
